This is once again a question of TT values vs sensible values.

The LFE, just like STD and XL engines make some very strange hops at ratings you would not expect. As STD and XL are already long implemented in the game it would be hard to change these without breaking anything, but with LFEs we actually still have time to implement some sensible values.

An example: (Suggested Value)
LFE 270: 17.0
LFE 275: 18.0
LFE 280: 18.0 (18.5)
LFE 285: 18.5
LFE 290: 19.5 (19.0)
LFE 295: 19.5
LFE 300: 20.5
LFE 305: 22.0 (21.0)
LFE 310: 22.5 (22.0)
LFE 315: 23.5 (23.0)
LFE 320: 24.0 (24.0)
LFE 325: 25.0

There are several other steps like this, where LFE weights make weird jumps despite not changing the number of (max) internal heatsinks, where a jump would be warrented.

This causes some engines to be obsolete while others become "sweet spots" or must-haves.

surely the LFE 275 should be 17.5 rather than having 2 at 18.5.

Hell why don't they just go up in 0.5 ton increments?

Oh yes the silly 10 heat sink rule. Why don't all engines automatically get 10 heat sinks then balance the weight.

Why do smaller engines with slower speeds have to be also crippled by having external heatsinks taking space and tonnage?

God the answer to my own question made me annoyed at the silly engine mechanics that are imposed by TT

BTW, anybody tested if there are penalties for losing a torso with a LFE?

Some guy told in the PTS announcement thread that there is a penalty, but I can't test right now...

Between LFE 270 and 275 there is a 1 ton gap because of the extra Heatsink slot. Those afaik always demand a tonnage sacrifice.

You definetely DO lose your speed. As to heat penalties I can't tell yet.

Doesnt engines in MWO also come with Gyro and Cockpit and that's why it's always odd?

They do. But I don't know how that causes the weird rating/weight ratios.
