*probably* full screen window - as we are leveraging it
tuning.cfg - containing - 'exec user.cfg'
user.cfg - containing filled in values for these two cvars
Spoiler
you might wonder, whats the point ? and that's a fair question, as most people would be very happy with just setting the resolution in the settings, some people might go over the top and mess with the attributes.xml file, but the best thing you can probably do, is leave the full window size (the value from the settings/attributes) on the native resolution where it will function and scale best, and mess with the output from the rendered before its scaled ....
for instance, my 4K screen is native at 3840x2160, that's 8,294,400 pixels, per frame ... a fair work load, numerically, and it brings my utilization and power levels up to acceptable levels .... but lets say someone else might have the same GTX 1060, but only using a 1080p screen, 2,073,600 pixels, per frame, you might find yourself in a situation, where the GPU doesn't feel as though its being 'worked' enough, and it might decide to underclock itself from maximum, and then ramp straight back up, creating microstalls or full blown stalls ...
maybe you've got a 1080ti ... and its being underutilized at 4K ...
so anyway, methodology becomes simple, 1920x1080 + 25% = 2500x1350, it should render fine, or you could just hit the normie resolution of 2560x1440 .... is 4K asking too much ? and heating your card up ? 3840x2160 - 12.5% = 3360x1890, yep, that's right, smack that baby into 3K on your laptop or whatever .... I guess you could use the same trick, @ the super potato end of the scale, and 1080x768 - 12.5% = 896x672 ... so I tested the potato resolution, on my 4K screen, and honestly, maybe I'm just munted, but it kinda made me nostalgic ... like I remember the old games, instead of, how they actually were .... because I certainly wasn't pushing 60fps for mw1 ... when I first saw it, it was only playable in wireframe ... but it did seriously look like I was playing the minecraft edition of MWO ....
3K on the other hand, was noticeably nicer than 2K, and a chunk less load than 4K ...
