The decreased cooldown with the PTS update today almost makes it viable, but the low damage still holds it back. 2 light gauss for 24 tons only gives one more damage than a regular gauss!
A bump up to 9 damage for the light gauss would mean the AC10 still is better DPS within its optimal range, but would allow the light gauss to have a role of its own.

(Then again, you could bump it up to 10 damage as others have been requesting, but I can see how that would risk making the AC10 obsolete, or at least only a niche weapon.)

The AC/10 is already obsolete. The AC/10 has been obsolete since 2014 on any 'Mech that doesn't have at least 20% improvements to range and velocity on ballistics.
