New PTS changes as of 1 PM PDT Friday, June 30th

  • Heavy PPC
    • Minimum range now represented by an exponential damage drop off similar to Clan LRMs.

Finally! Minimum range mechanic receives a small change, but it has a damn huge impact in the game! Awful Zero damage zone made no sense for years, and after all we received much needed change, even though it's just a test server.

Since it is the first time someone will be able to defend himself with IS PPC (HPPC, not counting ER version here) at a brawl it's a good opportunity to translate this to other weapons as well - like regular and light PPC and even LRMs and let PGI know what players want in that area.

Simple question, simple Yes/No answers. ATMs are out of the poll cause they have separate topic already.

Small request - if you care to take part in a poll, please leave a comment somewher here. It's not likely PGI will read through the topics that went to the 2nd-5th page of the forum.

Finaly they made a move to remove the no damage zone. Originaly in TT there was never a no damage zone, just a "hard to hit" zone and representing that with decreased damage is very good.
Its the same mechanic that PGI uses at range where targeting should get harder and also represent it with a damage falloff.

So yes please do this for all weapons with min range.

Yep, when 1-2 meters difference mean 0-10 damage difference it's just sad and make no sense. TT had a proper "soft counter" implementation of minimum range at least - punishing enougth (e.g. LRM shot at 3 hex below minimum is a -3 modifier, thus ~ -25% chance to hit), not a hard counter.

Swapping MWO's hard counters to softer versions would be a big step to improve usability of some weapons.
