As the newtech gets tested, one of the things that feels overlooked is that there's very little visual distinction between some of the new weapon types.

Gauss - Light and Heavy could have the sparks emitted during firing or impact blue or red-shifted slightly, giving light gauss blue white sparks, and heavy gauss distictly yellow or yellow-orange sparks.

MGs - light and heavy MGs could similarly use different coloured tracer rounds, like green for light and red for heavy.

PPCs - these do already seem to have some visual distinction, but SNPPCs seem too similar to the other types, perhaps they could have a bigger, brighter muzzle flash.

Heavy lasers - people have suggested hue/colour changes for these, however, I suggest either having the beam flicker as though it were unstable, or have the beam produce embers along it's length.

Rocket Launchers - these already appear to leave embers from their rocket exhaust, but I suggest making this more pronounced.

Gauss - I like the idea of different impact sparks

MG - Seeing how much more MGs are used that could come handy

PPC - Strangly I don't care for PPCs to look different.

Heavy Lasers - Yes please something.

Gauss rifles should have that quake-like spiral trace like they had in older MW games. So it would be easy to differentiate them by color and we'll get rid of their dumb unnecessary stealth.
Lasers surely lack visual differentiation now, especially considering how much different lasers we're going to have after update. Even ER and regular lalsers should be slightly differen IMO.
