Hello all,
Ok, I went through the Summer Blast and was able to get the Mech for completing the required number of challenges. The problem is I have played almost exclusively lights, i.e. Arctic Cheetah(2 ER LL), and the occasional foray into mediums, i.e. Cicada(2 PPC), so I'm not sure what I should do to become proficient with it. I have studied the various builds on a Mech builder site and now need to decide how to proceed. Any suggestions??

Did they change how the Mechs are put into the battle? I can't think of the last time I started on the ground versus from a drop ship. Personally I prefer the drop ship as it gives me a second or two to press 'B' and determine what direction I am facing and where I want to go. Especially for 'Conquest' and 'Domination' it gives me a few extra seconds before the other team can reach the objective.

When I am at the map and battle type selection screen, I noticed that at one point my map multiplier was X9. Got me thinking if it was possible to go higher?

Is there any talk of changes to 'Escort' or 'Incursion'? Both are interesting but I don't choose either unless I have no choice. Escort, to me, suffers from the team trying to stop the VIP has trouble finding the VIP. the quickest find was still after 25% travel and right after location the notification of 'half-way' to extraction. With Incursion, since I play a light I try to run out and gather energy for radar, jamming, and air power. But with only two minutes of run time it becomes a situation where after the initial power-up, either join the battle or do energy runs and hope the rest of the team can handle the fighting.

Also, had a weird ending occur a few days ago. I was playing Conquest and unfortunately all my team were defeated, we still won because we had three resources and the other team couldn't cap them before we gathered the 750. I think. Can't think of another reason for winning that game.

I have been stuck at about 50% bar at tier 5 since I started and don't see getting to tier 4 anytime soon. From other comments and posts it seems that wins and losses are the biggest factor in getting through the tiers, I think.

Anyway, any and all advice and comments(constructive) are welcome.

Launching from the dropship is the "new" launch method, it was first seen with the launch of Comunity Warfare (now known as Faction Play) at the end of 2014, I thaught all maps had been refitted to use them by now.

If I remember correctly the Mech for the Summer Blast was the Battlemaster Champion, is that correct?
if so you have 6E and 2M weapon hardpoints, and the stock loadout is 3 MPL and 3 LPL, that is a short to mid range build and the stock loadout is not bad, although I would swap out the standard 315 engine for a Light 350 engine when the new tech arrives in 2 weeks, 5/6 MPL + 2 SRM6 would also be good.
The main thing to bear in mind about the Battlemaster is that most of its energy hardpoints are realy high, next to the cockpit, this means you can poke your head over a hill and fire most of your guns with only your head and shoulders exposed.

I have been upto x13 multiplier, I believe it keeps going up by 1 for each time your choice lost.

as far as I am aware PGI is not currently working on changes to escort or incursion, but there is a lot of talk amoungst players about them needing changes, they are both great concepts but execution could have been a bit better.

to win in any game mode the primary objective must be completed, or it must be impossible for the enemy to end with better progress towards the objective than you, that means in conquest the team that wins the fight still needs to cap the points, in escort if the VIP reaches extraction the defenders have won, in incursion the winning teams base is the base in best health, in domination the winning team is the one with the least time on the domination clock at time out, Skirmish and assualt are the only modes where killing all enemy Mechs wins you the match, meaning as I like having the objectives other than just killing all Mechs I almost never choose skirmish mode (the only time I do pick is if it is skirmish or domination on Frozen, Grimm or Polar all of which have realy bad domination points).

To go up in tier you need to get I think 250 match score on a win or 450 on a loss. this means it is far easier to go up on a win, on average you should win about half the time, the simplest (note not nessiceraly easiest) way to get match score is damage, in most game modes every 2 points of damage = 1 match score.
My tier progress bar has barely moved in almost 2 years since its introduction.

Max for Map and Game Mode is 12x selection attempts. I had a 12x for maps yesterday and it took me 3 attempts at Thera Therma before successfully getting that map for a drop :)

I could have sworn I had been past x12, but I could be mistaken.

The break points for Tiers are on the hundreds. Less than 100 on a win means your tier stays the same. The greater the match score the more your Tier goes up. At 100-200 it goes up a little, it goes up more between 200 and 300, it goes up quite a bit in the 300-400 range until at 400+ on a win it goes up by the same amount (which is a lot).

On a loss it's sort of the opposite. When your team loses you will usually lose some of your Tier bar. The amount that you lose gets lessened until at 300 you don't lose any and at 400+ on a loss you actually gain some.

The tier system really only works for solo que during peak hours. It is all but meaningless for group que and by design does nothing for faction play.

Outside of that, it really does not mean a thing, beyond being a glorified XP bar.
