Will MechOnline use IGN's gamespy service to connect to servers or are will they be using there own proprietary service?
Will servers be available for league play as in the old Solaris leagues so that planet conditions, maps and drop weight restrections can be managed with two or possibly more teams joining?

I sure as hell hope they don't use Game Spy servers. Their servers are not reliable at all.

They're using their own servers.

I've not seen strong evidence that this kind of matchmaking will be available, but I could be wrong.
MWO is a persistent universe. It is not like MW4 with the single-player chopped out.

They are using their own servers
there are no 'private servers' or any method for someone to create custom game environment (no mods, no private server, no custom gametype, no custom ton limits, etc)

I wonder how long it will be before someone does get a private server going.

Hopefully a long time.
I'd hate to see this game degrade/devolve into a mess of locked and private servers for elitist clans to slog it out with each other.

I am really interested in how the do the matchmaking. Play StarCraft2 since release it is all about matchmaking. If feel like you are clubbing baby seals it losing the fun fast. Same goes if you are the baby seal getting clubbed

Being someone who donated to the game, I'd hope that the match making system is like any multiplayer game, where you can go agianst people of your same caliber strength, kind of like player match, ranked match kinda thing.

Tonnage restrictions on drops should be in effect as well. I would hate to see a drop with a company of assault mechs going against a company of mixed lights and mediums.
From Paul on July 14th:
To the OP, your speculation is 100% wrong.
Currently (and this will change), there are no restrictions to drop builds (who takes what). I have yet to see an all Atlas team and I can guarantee you they will fail.

Whilst it's nice you enjoy your Apple, this is most decidedly an Orange. SC2 has little to no relation to MWO.
