When I first started playing this game I had a lot of matches where I thought I did pretty ok, shooting enemies left and right, until I died and was told I did a grand total of a whopping 47 damage. Then a friend told me to make sure the reticle turns red when firing on a target to make sure you're actually doing damage, and after that I started doing much better. Being able to tell whether you're actually landing your shots is really useful, so I'd like this feature to be expanded a bit. I'm thinking in (one or both of) these two ways:

1) In addition to making the reticle blink, also make a short sound play (i.e. a hitsound) whenever your weapons damage an enemy. Sometimes in the middle of combat it's easy to miss the reticle blinking. Maybe allow players to turn it off in the Options if they don't like it.

2) Make the HUD show how much damage is being done every shot. There's a big difference between doing 2 points of damage or 20 (obviously), but in both cases it just makes the reticle blink. It would be very helpful as a way of determining which weapons are most effective in certain situations.

I guess one could argue that #2 makes things a bit too easy, and that taking into account effective weapon ranges and spread and so on is just part of the game, but I don't really see why #1 couldn't be implemented. Would really help me out anyway.

1) Only if I can turn it off. There are enough sound going on. Also I need to hear when other people call targets or just talk to my friends.

2) No. This is so immersion breaking as it can get, telling me straight at my face "you play a game".
Thats why i would like to turn off the "Archivments notes" and the like too.

Where I can agree upon is that it would be nice to have a bigger hit notification. Strangely when I see people playing on youtube, most of them have another crosshair that gives a more visible feedback on hits compared ot mine.

Don't know why but that would help a lot.

Yeah, ok. I hadn't thought of that. It does go against the Battlemech simulator idea a bit.

I'll have to look into that! Sounds like that would solve my problem too, thanks.

I would have never looked there. Does the colorblind mode change anything else beside the crosshair? Vids looked pretty normal.
