In game you can now buy the Roughneck for MC. Only one month to go, before its available for c-bills. \o/

Yes. Considering how it is a likely candidate for nerfs after C-Bill release, I'll stick to in-game money version a month later.

I REALLY want to drop cash on it, but I fear this very thing.

I do not believe there was an announcement like there usually is. Roughneck for MC, Assassin for CBill was released 7-4.

The mech doesn't seem to be popular, I almost never see one.

Especially in CW. One would think such a tanky mech would be used more.

I've been waiting on the new tech to drop before getting one, and now I can. Light Fusion engine, Ultra AC/10, MRM30, 3 ML. Tanky and sweet.

Enjoy...the chassis is awesome.
Ironically, it wont' see much upgrades from the new tech, at least not my loadouts.
Probably will only see a uac20 upgrade and 1-2 LFE motors for me.
The rest of the(my) builds safely run XLs and can't go backwards.

3 LPL 2 ERML 3A looks interesting. Might buy one once new tech comes out.

It takes 2.5 tons scrounged up someplace to turn a 300 XL into a 280 LFE, and one of those tons can be the internal heat sink you lose. SO worth it for your durability to reach deep and cough up those few extra tons.

Eh, i tried, those heatsinks are too valuable for something like this:

Now you can drop down to LFE or standard and run 2xLPL and 5mlas, but I already run that on my Warhammers-6D, don't care to have a duplicate build.

Plus in this config, you can put all your firepower down range without having to deal with terrain. There is some mouse click trickery used to get around the LPL ghost heat of course. And you can engage at 400m out with the addition of a ERMed, which I'm still on the fence about adding since the build is pretty hot.

Again here, its not worth losing DHS(in my opinion) for the amount of firepower it can bring at all ranges.

Also, pay attention to the sheer amount of RT/LT torso armor you have to chew through to blow the XL.
That RT/LT has almost the same amount of struct/armor(120hit points) as the CT of a Rifleman(122hit points) and a Jager(~129hit points), both mechs in the 65 ton class.

So at worst(with an xl), if you don't splash damage properly, you have the durability of any other 65ton mech(unskilled).

The hero Roughneck actually has potential for dual UAC/10 builds, given it's got the reduced jam chance and ballistic cooldown bonus. It outdoes the JM6-DD quirks in terms of UACs, and gets a bit more reach due to only missing hand actuators instead of stripping it all the way down to upper+shoulder. Plus, it's tankier.

I'm just glad its 65 tons, will be great for CW. Has the armor and structure of an 80+ tonner anyway.
