So we know the decals come "soon" yet we only saw a few that looked like premades.

Will we get custom ones?

that would be epic having owns for the unit symbol and a pilot symbols.

PLS *prepares throwing moniez*

The chances are pretty low because of phalluses and other dirty shapes everywhere.

I imagine we would see a lot of "truck nutz" on the NA servers.

Possibly they could sell the ability to create a custom decal for MC? Part of that purchase fee would cover a PGI mod approving the decal top avoid innapropriate material.

how is that a reason? when people pay to get a decal put on they get removed again, thast quite their own problem to waste money. also other games have this too, its just a matter of what PGI puts in the rules of being allwowed.

it would be the perfect way to truly personalise our mechs.

Actually, legal issues involving copyright will be a much greater concern.

Set some rules for decal design and use.

one: decals must be approved. To avoid obscene images.

two: only units with sufficent membership sizes can submit decals. To limit the volume of submissions.

three: Decal submissions cost real money (MC) To discourage submissions of decal designs that are obvious violations.

Not even this, many games do this as well, because its "player submitted" content makes the legal issues not much of a concern. Look at APB Reloaded people copy nearly all stuff.

Are you saying corporations big and small would look kindly to seeing their trademarked logos appear in the game without their consent?

it's palyer submitted content and it is nothing they can do about, becaus eits like you painting a hiant mountain dew logo on your house. They hardly can do anythign about it unless you are moetizing this symbols. Also why would they even care for free advertising in videogame?

As said, APB relaoded, and armored core never had any issues with it. also other things like modding in CS, not a problem, why ? playermade stuff.

Licensing issues aren't a concern for free content, but could be for something you have to pay for. For the classic example look at sprays in all of the source engine games, you can use whatever you want. "Inappropriate" is another issue, but since source games are server based the admins of a server decide what's acceptable.

Here, since there are no private servers and it will almost certainly be paid content, I would bet this will be seriously expensive, probably in both cbills and MC, and require PGIs approval on everything.

QQ avoided.

As someone who spent 6 hours in Armored Core V customizing his mech with multiple intricately designed decals, I want more than just my unit tag. I'll pay.

would be great seeing as how much of this game is driven by community created content
Community videos, fan art, community leagues, competitive units.

Custom decals would be a great outlet for community creativity and I think PGI should support that mentality.

I would love to see players running SJR, 228, Mercstar emblems etc etc.

I just would like the custom decals to be of onpar quaity with in game decals. Standardized formatting for upload should be required. Set file type and set resolution size

they don't sell the decal, they sell just the permission to sue a player submitted oen thats a difference. Since this is then not selling something with a license.

That reminds me of the time in MW4 Mercs when i ran as Col Sanders.

I had restaurant chain Sanders head logo on the torso and the KFC One on the legs.

Hilarious

How many pages you gotta go through to find this stuff? Surprised it isn't auto locked due to age.

you can already make phalluses and dirty shapes

pretty sure PGI is more concerned about the legal ramifications of people using copyrighted images
