Since the recent Civil War PTS there's been a lot of talk about crit-splitting. This is a much needed feature and would open many doors - including 12+ crit slot doors . However this is potentially a tricky area to implement at this point, so here are my suggestions...

If possible, splitting crits with one/both adjacent components - in the same way an XL/LFE does - makes heavy weapons like the LBX-20 or H-Gauss usable in mechs' arms or with XL/LFE whilst maintaining sensible fragility of the weapon system.

Alternatively, a hacky but perhaps favorably simple solution is to create a new dynamic slot item like Endo/Ferro that assures the weapon consumes the correct number of crits while fitting conveniently into arms or cramped shoulders. The weapon's HP is then tweaked to compensate for it's new crit profile.
