Still not feeling it even trying to think rationally about this nerf (that is needed but could done better) but using lazy artificial heat mechanic to possibly shaft a weapon system or completely ignore it because the mechanic is so flawed in many ways.

No. That nerf was part of the anti-fat ballerinas countermeasures, and it must remain until one of the following conditions are met:

1) Lights are buffed to be able to effectively fight and earn big scores alongside their larger brethren,
or,
2) The rewards system is changed to properly reward mechs for providing non-combat support, such as recon and capping.

Assault torso twist still need to be unnerfed. If it means making lights better im fine with that too.

Really its not going to change much. You just fire the ppc half second later. The whole reason you use gauss+ppc was due to heat.

If you can aim its not going to matter all that much. It will still be used.

This still does give people a chance to twist away and take the second half of the shot somwhere else, at least.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop- PPCs not being able to charge up (cooldown timer frozen) if a Gauss Rifle is recharging.

Can we dump the charge up time on gauss rifles then?

On the Light Gauss, yes. On others, no.

So does this mean that we can remove the charge-up from gauss? Eh?

In all seriousness though, this just means less variety of builds, and a slight meta shift. Say hello to the IS UAC10.

That meta was cancerous anyway, too many tryhards in assaults and heavies hill humping or poptarting and too scared to scratch their paint while the rest of the team soaks up all the damage for them.

Who is going to waste cbills on a light gauss rifle :P 3 tons more gets you 46% more damage.

I really wish they would have increase the range to something like 1000m so at least you could call it a sniper weapon.

Why? Now that you can't fire all 4 weapons at once there's need to keep the gauss charge up on any gauss. Besides, light gauss still suck balls. Too much weight, too little damage.

Well, this will probably make me rethink my investment into the MKII. I was going to get it specifically with 2GR, 2PPCs build in mind, and i don't see a whole lot of reasons to get it now.

This will lead to laservomit all day long, but both the MAD 2C and the supernova are better pure laservomit mechs. The MKII doesn't really have the tonnage for 2x Gauss, 2 LPL, 4 ML with an adequate engine, hitboxes with missiles seem to be utter ****... that leaves some Gauss/laser or UAC/Laser combos i'm not really interested in.

Not to mention the agility on the Mk II is pretty bad, looking at the quirk screenshots.

It is precisely because LGauss sucks balls, that I want no charge on it. Clan Gauss is good weapon by itself. It can be combined with laser vomit, dakka, or dual wielded, and still do good. Regular IS Gauss does need more love, but not to the extent of LGauss. Maybe slightly faster CD and less charge timer.

I'd be amenable to this. Light gauss aren't quite as good as regular gauss (though lowering the CD was a good step to help).

Nah, I'm not salty, I can always run dual Gauss + 4-6CERML and still make potato salad. Considering Laser vomit is better right now anyhow, it doesn't really matter

Range on meds did get buffed to 800 i think...

long live laser vomit. bye bye gauss+ppc, how i loved thee.

PGI already beat you to it. They nerfed both Clan and IS laser vomit in the latest patch, so don't worry, no one is going to let your mechs become any better than they already are - they can only get worse...

I don't knwo how the heat penalty is working for IS PPCs, but it looks like the IS will have significantly better ways of avoiding the penalty on PPFLD.

Without knowing the limits for Gauss + PPC, hard to say. Probably going to end up as 2x cGauss versus 2x HPPC. Better range and virtual lack of heat with the drawback of charge-up versus snapshots and lighter weight with the drawbacks of minimum range and high heat.

Well, I think Light PPC has their own group, and AC5s totally avoid a penalty (albeit rather hefty).
