The Throttle function is all about spam protection. If you space out your messages then it won't really affect you, but if you post a bunch of separate chat entries in very short order then it'll kick in. It's on the Twitch streams for non-paying viewers, and in MWO. I have to assume it's in a lot of other things as well.

Edit: Try making your messages longer instead of breaking them up into separate posts, and try waiting a bit between posts. It should reduce or eliminate your throttling.

It is rare. I gave it a try, you only get throttled if you post 3 lines in a row even if spaced with many seconds.

But still, 5 minutes though.

Considering it is a stop gap to prevent spam, yes.

Much rather have tighter controls then not and since we cannot mute individuals and people ignoring rules, yes, defending it.

Sorry the OP got caught up in a spam prevention filter but in the end much ado about nothing.

I'd be happier if they had spent the energy making Faction chat available also to people using their Home tab or Mechlab tab instead of activating it only when the player selects their Faction tab.

I think we need an appropriate level chat system,before we start worrying about spammers, but hey,maybe this means PGI is planning to upgrade our chat to maybe the level of an 90s MMO. It's only 2015.....no rush.
