[Redacted]

So yesterday, there was a quasi front page gossip news about how the "hot mugshot guy" and his wife is getting a divorce. (Google if you don't know the story) Naturally, I was talking to my friend smoky "master heat" the bear (the guy that wrote the heat guide on steam) about it... mainly about how random and unimportant this news item was. Since, I didn't even know those people were supposed to be celebrities.

[Redacted]

And it hit me.

[Redacted], it's the PGI has 2 problems in their marketing campaign.

1: They don't have a spokesperson to associate the franchise with.
2: They are just not having fun with it.

Allow me to elaborate. If you want your customer base to expand, it's far easier to associate something that's counter main stream to draw a portion of niche population. This is why companies get spokesperson. It's a tie-in to relate a product to the real world.

Now, it's far more obvious to envision A-Rod using a razor or Federer with his Swiss watch cause... well, a lot of us use those items everyday. But for a gaming company, for every iteration of CoD for example, there is one central celebrity that you can associate with. Black Ops, it was Kobe. The one after that, it was Dwight Howard.

[Redacted], but... let's say... it's some Youtube star...

They are cheap, they have great followings, they promote like no others, and it gets the people talking.

[Redacted]

And while all of this is happening, PGI just... gotta have fun with it. Cause, there's no point just hiring someone and not give him the support he/she needs. And that's my phase 2 plan. Say PGI cosplay Comstar. So these boring patches become... transmission from Comstar.

"Dear Warriors, with a recent discovery of crack on Dimotian mirrors, we have updated your combat computers to increase the long range combat laser duration by 0.2 second"

vs

"Due to some divine intervention, data gathered at a faulty event with super flawed data collection too long ago, we are nerfing the ERLL by increasing the burn time"

It's the same core message, but I will have more fun with 1 than 2. Just saying. And let's imagine, the quasi celebrity PewTheoryHeart is the person making a short video announcement with the changes...

BAM.

Fun.
Until I'm gone, you have no idea how much you missed me, right?
Catch you on the battlefield!

Unimpressed?

Maybe try harder to get on my level.
Or...
Die!!!!

You want PGI to do........marketing?

[Redacted]

Originally the website had a list of mechs with info on individual variants and heroes. They couldn't be bothered to keep it updated and now we have a chassis list by weight class.

Originally their was comstar announcements that supposedly coincided with the date of the game. Bye bye IGP and that stopped as well.

For every new chassis and most heroes, there would be an intro/marketing vid. When was the last time PGI did that?

marketing... not PGI's strong suit.

Right, I totally agree with you, so for the initial phase, that spokesperson will do the marketing FOR you.

Honestly, a lot of those youtube stars, you can probably give them like a master account and they will do everything for you without a dime. I mean, I would if I had 10,000 followers.

They went too big. I'm just talking about fan interaction. Like they are the Comstar and all news are like RPG elements.... Kinda thing.

Events won't just be some random "Memorial day event" (which, is cool, but we are technically in year 3058 right? Isn't that the original premise of the game?) So, make it like...

"Day of Remembrance for the Clan Massacre on Algia"

Or something like that.

I would love, love, love something like that.

Naturally, I would advise to post in a manner more suited to mercenaries, because of them having a vested interest in conflict across the Sphere, whereas ComStar is a bit more interested in subdueing certain news to keep a peace, but that's details. If PGI would enage in something similar to Star Citizen's different "shows" as installments, the player/dev relationship would surely improve.

"Mechanic Warrior", the show for the guts and gears of new/old mechs
"Frontline", the show covering fights with the clans
"Freerange Firepower", a show for new/old weapon systems
"Change for Change", covering lucrative merc contracts and how shifts in power affected the 'Sphere
"Operational News Bulletin", a cheek-in-tongue show about buffs/nerfs
"West Periphery Customs", showcasing paintjobs and decals compositions

There's tons more.

Tina Benoit made an excellent video for the K-9 Urbanmech of the Resistance Heroes.

Not enough money to bribe err donate to ign or pc gamer any more for good and mediocre reviews. They blew the marketing budget on the k9 video. I'm sure pgi will relaunch their own media page with videos about hero mechs in 90 days.

Still makes me want that mech but I'm not throwing away that cash.

Lol, Ludo's hat for PGI cosplay.

So if i get this straight, you want a representative from PGI whose main job is to communicate with the community?

Isn't that Tina's job already? Although i do wish that the Staff just comments on the forums more.
