May I ask why those aberations from the original art were tried?
Regimental Insignias and national emblems are highly conservative patterns as they should always be identified easyly so aberations or conversions that could hinder instand recognition have to be avoided as much as possible. This is from a military standpoint. I do understand that creative minds such as designers surely are, tend to try new interpretations and stuff. Yet this is exactly the opposite of what is needed when coloring and marking military themed vehicles. Standartification and clear arrangements come to use.
Those needs and restrictions bring with it a beauty and aesthetic of it's own when you behold military vehicles and planes. While I fully understand that mechs are in some cases painted like race cars with ed hardy stickers on, or as futuristic knights, there is a very large portion of mech forces and I daresay it is the majority of mechs that simply are used as walking tanks in military units. And I think MWO could immensely profit if this aspect of the Battletech and Mechwarrior frenchise would get more attention when it comes to more realistic camouflage patterns, unit insignias, tonnage markers and tactical markings.
Just get yourself some tank modelling or military airplane modelling journals and behold the very distinct beauty of warmachines:

Looks like you got the avatar working, but the website is still directing to the old Nova Cat emblem. Does that need to be changed in the same patch that fixes it in game, or is the website independently pulling the logo?

Maybe I am missing the sarcasm or the irony. But according to my information PGI has full rights to use Battletech mechs and faction related stuff. I think they also could put the whole story and universe into action which sadly they do not...
There never was such a situation as with some of the old unseen designs which thankfully were claimed back.

Now that the poll has served it's purpose, I am going to have it locked before it gets derailed by negativity.
