Hi all. Today I want to introduce a system that can turn even the skeptics about the assault robots.

I raise 2 questions in the game:

1 Why assault robots are not that assault, why they are fairly easy to kill and they can not cope with the role of the assault and the breakout direction?

2 The Model depicted on the art sketches are just stunning, beautiful, amazing, but when they get into the game as 3D models are just terrible ugly copies, why?

An anser is - because exist damage system in game for assault mech is NOT CORRECT.
(remember in the books? mechs can bit each others hour ago and more)

So
This is VAnila damage panel:

and this, how i suggested to do:

and how this agan on mech (approximately)

Description.
as you can see I propose to introduce an additional section in panel damage.
(This should greatly affect survival but not much on the balance. since the armor is partially divided into these departmen)

Upper Center torso (UCT)
lower Center torso (LCT)

Upper right torso (URT)
Lower right torso (LRT)

Upper left torso (ULT)
Lower left torso (LLT)

Upper Arms (UA)
Lower Arms (LA)

Upper legs (UL)
Lower Legs (LL)

How its work?

Engine XL - will place at LRT LLT UCT
Standart Engine - will place in UCT
URT ULT LCT - dont have a back armor as legs and arms
LLT LRT LA RA - without changing

Then mech lost (ULT URT) - he can continie fight , but can lost weapons and equipments what install on it upper torso half.

Then mech lost (LCT) - the robot can continue the battle, but loses the ability to rotate the torso - 70% original speed (an important addition, getting into this part after the destruction does not cause damage to the Central torso only to legs)

Then mech lost (UA LA) - mech completely lost ability to move arm and its broke ability to recharge ballistic and rocket weapon with ammo.

Then mech lost (UL) - mech lost 30% original speed,

Then mech lost all (UL) he can continie fight but have a -60% original speed

all damage taken to UL after destored will take to LL

Then mech lost (LL) - 40% turn speed

Then mech lost all (LL) -80% original speed

all damage taken to LL after destored will take to UL

Them mech lost all (LL) and (UL) - its has been killed

How will this help?
Assault mechs can take more damage and require more skill from players to kill them, at the same time you can quickly kill them knowing where to shoot, so it won't be a problem.
But and assault robots will not be a walking target due to their size.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing that developers will be ABLE to make a 3D model replica of the CONCEPT on 100%.
without having to resize any parts, or change the form that the robot is able to survive in the game. In fact the new part, serve to protect the BIG Assault mech, and their loss will not lead to his death.

Very interesting concept, JD, and well thought out.

However implementation would be difficult for PGI programmers as they would have to write entirely new code to change the hit registers for each mech (not just the assaults)
Can you imagine trying to chase down a locust with split torsos??? (I don't even want to think about it)
But you are thinking out of the box, which we need more of.
Keep on following your thoughts on this and you may come up with a workable solution.

Peace

This model suggest use only in Assalut mechs =) thats not that hard to do

but imagine this

Heavy walk Assault mech, walk to the enemies, lost arm, black smoke, HIT and then again, he lost almost all weapons, but still stand and strike back

=))

Is there a place to vote no?

I appreciate the thought and effort that went into it, but just.... no.

Good idea. This is a computer game, not a desktop game. While developing.
