Dual LB20s should be nice; pair them up with 4x6 SRM6 and you have another scorch. ( MC MKII - 2)

Dual Gauss + 2LPLs + 2MLs works well too. (MC MKII - 1)

Or you can basically get a faster Supernova with LRMs. (MC MKII - 3)

anything that uses the highest hardpoint possible to hide as much of it's hideousness as possible?

Highest hardpoints are it's missile racks, and even then it's not very good.

None of these variants are one sided so you can't really have a deadside.

then my recommendation would be to leave them in the mechbay altogether.

just keep in mind that having to stagger fire gauss and ppc separately really isn't the end of the world for that build, it just means no more 50 damage pinpoint at 700 meters, which is kinda dumb anyways...

UAC's are 100% reliable if you don't double tap. Given that you have to CHOOSE to double tap, there's no risk of a jam if you don't want to.

I mean they're reliably terrible if you're choosing not to double tap, but yeah, they're reliable.

Not much reason to use one over some lasers if you aren't double tapping due to them also having spread damage, travel times, and much higher weight.

Easy thing to do to circumvent the ERPPCs and Gauss no longer being able to be paired up as well is to just swap to lasers. ERML is getting their 800m max range back if you want to have long range, heavy lasers are being added if you want to give up everything else in the name of alpha. Could do 70 damage alpha with 4 HML paired with 2 gauss.

ATMs are also looking very powerful in the skirmishing range, they have more than double the velocity of LRMs and less spread with more potential damage. They'll be rather devastating and could pair with some lasers rather decently if you have the cooling to pack those up.

With the high mounts and good top speed in the Mad Cat MK2 and the full battlemech customization it should be rather decent.

perhaps.

But as a reminder, there is currently no 90 Ton Clan Battlemech in this game that goes beyond 325 Engine rating.

You could say that.

Either way, 90% of the game we spend is inside the cockpit of the mech, not in 3rd POV like the rest allowed or were centered around back then, so wouldn't worry too much about the thing aesthetically.

that other 10% is the 3rd POV used to peak over hills before you poptart.

Now if I didn't spend 90% of the game looking at the outside of the mechs on my team and the ones I was shooting at, that might almost be good enough.

Almost.

I mean.. heck.. why bother with graphics at all, if that's the case? Or variety? Let's just build a perfect hitbox/hardpoint "MetaNator" in each weight class and call it a day, eh?

I mean we already made we, the community ourselves didn't we? crotch gun and all.....

You know, sometimes I wonder how the game would be like if we 3rd POV was the actual way to play.

It'd be a lot cooler I'd say.

Gauss + 2 LPLs + 5 ERMLs. 74 damage repeatable 2 times, 3 with coolshot.

Which one has the 7 energy hardpoints? Because I'm not seeing one.

I found what works for me is 2 lbx20, and 4 SRM 6s. It has very good heat management with decent mid-range, and very good ccq. I'm contemplating trying 4 ATM 12s. Has anyone ever ran a build with that before?
