As the title says, MechWarrior 4 mod tools are a thing now. I wanted to bring it up here because this was released out of the blue and I want to see people make use of this. It was silently released about two months ago! Its completely custom made and still a work in progress but mod tools none the less

I feel like this could revive the MechWarrior 4 playerbase. If you have any experience with this stuff, try them out!

There have been mod tools for a while, now. Like my copy of MekTek MW4 came with a map editor and other tools. Didn't get much around to playing with it. Might do so now, especially if there's enough to make a full custom campaign.
