I am creating a petition to inject a massive amount of sanity and acceptability into the game.

I want to see the damage profile of ATMs scale in a slope with range, instead of the stair-step damage profile it currently experiences.

Here's your lore fluff: ATMs deal more damage up-front because unspent propellant contributes toward the blast force. No tabletop-based damage stairsteps based on the melding of several differing ammo types - just make it in accordance with MWO instead of BattleTech.

Make it a gradual slope from 3 damage to 1 damage. It can follow a curve if you want to... just not a clearly-artificial stair-step.

Please.

Why, if you don't mind me asking?

FWIW, I'd have preferred something where you could choose which missiles to carry by buying S-ATM, M-ATM, or L-ATM ammo (HE, Standard, and ER in tabletop), and ammo you don't buy affects what the weapon does in battle—if you only bought L-ATM ammo the weapon would have the full max range but all your shots would only do 1 damage per missile, or if you only bought S-ATM ammo you'd always do 3/missile but the weapon's max range would appear to be 270. If you mix it up it pulls from the correct ammo bin for whatever the range to target is when you pull the trigger, and treating dead-fire shots as M-ATM shots. If you don't have enough of the right kind of ammo, it starts pulling from the other bins, in the priority order M, L, and then S last. When you run out of L-ATM ammo the weapon range shortens in your HUD, and when you run out of M-ATM ammo it shortens again.

But the coding on that would be...probably excessive...and the learning curve would be nutty.

I personally just wanna see the damage decreased and the min range removed.

I dont care if the damage steps down gradually or incrementally

the min range is what kills the weapon for me

My LRMs could use more of that propellant damage increase, and less of that minimum range. :P
