I tried to make one,

A little pushing it with no backup weapons nor ams, but at least it wont be slower than a Direwolf, is it doable?

I'm no expert, but I don't think it would be a terrible idea to drop two tons of ammo and throw a medium laser in each arm. The build itself seems nice in theory, but heavy gausses get critted and destroyed so easily, that not having any backups seems way too risky.

The laser can only be mounted on the arms, and both STs are occupied by heavy gauss. Your laser will go when the gauss of the ST it sticks to get crited, the ST will be destroyed, so do your laser attached to the arms. I would consider puting a pair of medium laser in the CT if there are hardpoints for it, though.

Well if one torso and arm go, then you have a shield side and can hopefully keep the other side intact until your basically dead anyways.

I like running a lot of lb10xs in my MAL-1R, and I have a medium laser in one arm just in case. That side always seems to get blown off first, but on the off chance that it doesn't, I still have something there. That's the inherint weakness of the maulers.

I'd build it on a MAL-2P taking advantage of its ballistic CD quirk and multiple E hardpoints on the arms: 2HGauss+2ERML STD300 MAL-2P

You can pull off the Case as well, Gauss Ammo doesn't explode.

You won't be able use even 33% of that ammo.

I think heavy gauss can be fun. It gives you really nice insentive to get really close to the enemy. Tried my mauler with 2xHGG plus I recall 2 light PPCs.

Biggest challenge is to get close to the enemy without blowing up 400 meters before.

I just checked STD270, 2xstub nose PPCs and 3 tons of HG ammo. It's a bit low on ammo but I really wanted to sqeeze in something good, light PPCs didn't seem to be powerful enough.

Sorry, my bad. I didn't realize Case actually works on the weapon itself. Posted Image

Yup. Heavy gauss and the Annihilator, either alone or together, are completely unplayable at the moment in solo que.

Beyond that, I think they may have to end up getting rid of the charge up mechanic on heavy gauss (as well as light gauss). It's not a very good "brawling" weapon at the moment, and it can't do anything else.

I tried Dual HGauss on the Annihilator a few times yesterday.

My Verdict: fun, fun, fun!!!

BUT: it's difficult to use and makes you a prime target even beyond driving an Annihilator.
In group queue I see this as being pretty strong, as you can cripple most lights and some mediums outright.
In Solo drops it was very difficult not to get isolated and swarmed (as with the dire whale and other sloth-paced Mechs)

But I cannot say often enough how fun it is to send a Huginn running after on shot with cherry red CT.

Also: HGauss are pretty usable out to 400 meters!
