Your friendly LRM support chiming in... we're dead. LRM boats are still viable, but the unholy amount of lead flying in the air makes it perilous. While I lament the loss of our LRM support, our new ballistic overlords are admittedly pretty fun. It's raining sideways, the hill is literally exploding around us, and I couldn't enjoy it more. Bring on the RACs, load up the light gauss, and even some of that new PPC could be good; let's have everyone stack AMS and charge out in the open into glorious combat and explosive, fiery death.

I miss my missiles, but only when a hill's in the way.

So, how should missiles get balanced this time? :)

i have to say that lams is my new favorite toy. if i see enough iron domes on my nearby team mates, il just stand in the open and send slugs downrange while lrms harmlessly dissolve overhead in a glorious blaze of ruby photons.

also if you are a spheroid the uac is back baby.

i want to try a stealth armor gauss boat. cyclops looks good but i need cbills. maybe ddc if you want og goose. im thinking dual light would be better though. unfortunately because stealth armor needs to be distributed, no room to case your gauss, so be a good ninja.

If there was someone solid enough to consistently run that in QP I'd love them forever. I got Stealth-armour / laser AMS on the pirate's bane and suddenly missiles don't exist... I've also never had to pay so much attention to my mech before; I like it :D

I feel LAMS has become mandatory on almost every mech I own, I haven't regretted it once. Never knew ~ toggled AMS until now

So basically, now that it's got pretty lights, people are finally taking (L)AMS because it's cool now?

Only took years of telling the potato gallery "If you hate LRMs, use AMS" to make it's way up to the top.

what exactly does stealth armor do? I cant seem to figure this out.

because ecm already makes you invisible above 300m. And people can friggin see you easily under 300m. So whats the point of stealth armor?

it hides you from heat vision? thats it?

stealth armor seems like the most useless thing out of all the new tech. it stealths you at a range where people can blatantly see you anyway.

The best part is they nerfed AMS and people are using it more.

I think people are terrified of ATMs maybe? The 144 damage volley from x4 ATM12s is broken as all hell.

The constant streams of MRM 30x2's dumping 60 damage with quirks-a-plenty may have something to do with it as well, considering how plentiful the options are for IS robots with few missile hardpoints but compensating quirks that MRMs are made for.

Heck, someone was in a Vindicator-1X with a single 30 and basically spat rockets constantly all game. 2100 ammo, pretty much a shot every 3 seconds or so at anything he saw because 25% missile cooldown quirk. Trebuchets. 20% cooldown quirk, 20% less heat, 10% velocity slinging 50-60 at a time without a care. I got wrecked by an MRM 60 one. And Catapults. I even see old goldmen in their Catapults getting into it. Even saw a Cataphract-2X for the first time in years.

UAC/20 + MRM 30. People are plugging those things into everything.

Y'all forget that before the recent poptart meta, ballistics was the go, then the crutchdiak 3 came out and ALL ballistics got nerfed.

The circle for readjustment from poptart this time was quite small compared to most meta cycles.

If you're in a small mech, not moving, and hidden in undergrowth (forest colony comes to mind), SA is actually really good at letting you spot passively. It sets your mech to more or less the same as the background temperature, so you literally blend into the background. If your camo is the right colour, that is...

After trying ATMs.. I can't find a reason why I would not still use my LRM boats.. Sure, there's more PPC and Dakka out there.. but there was always lots of PPC and dakka out there...

If someone has RACs.. it's the same as a UAC2 boat.. simply don't stand in front of it and LRM it from cover as always..

So don't worry.. your friendly LRM rainmaker ain't going anywhere.. Posted Image

lams is most useful on those heat neutral ballistic builds. especially useful with those brand spanking new uacs, gausses, and to a lesser degree racs.

theres no red dorito with ecm though, at least not above 300m

and if youre within 300m theyre gonna see you anyway lol youre not hiding at 300m

ok so it makes you invisible to heat vision and people cant see your damage ragdoll

that doesnt seem worth it

I see your point but its very easy to defeat RAC cannons.. Once they start to spin they fire for a couple then hide behind a building or tree or rock wait 1-2 seconds then jump out and snipe them for 3-4 seconds then jump behind a rock. They will keep on spinning their gun so you will take min damage..

Yes its looking like Ballistic will be the new norm as all I see are bullets flying all over the place with the normal laser vomit as well.ATM are dead when I bring my ANTI-MISSILE Nova build I just stand in the open and eat missiles for lunch..

Its the way of the game I think
