So, on my nova a put 12 ERsmalls, 4 light machine guns, and 1 laser ams. Couldn't use it coz the lab told me I had over 16 weapons, since it counted the laser AMS as the 17th one. Took laser AMS off and the warning went away.

Is this in the patch notes or is it something you al have experienced yet?

must be a nova only problem then, since its one of the few mechs that can hold 16 weapons, I know the game has a 16 weapon limit on all mechs, I just dont know why its counting the laser AMS as a weapon when the normal AMS is fine....

of course not, im using the center AMS slot, and using the ballistic torso omnipods. The side AMS omnipods I took off to put the machine guns, basically, imagine the trial nova with ballistic side torsos. that's not really the issue at stake here.

(PS. i get even normal AMS warning about max 16 weapons)

Nova S has a center torso mounted AMS, only way he could have that build. Its actually only an issue for the Nova and Direwolf last time I check. PGI has it coded so that you can't take more than 16 "weapons". Besides those mechs, I don't think there are any other mechs that can have 17 weapons at a single time. (Been a really long time since I last check).

That's because there are optional rules allowing you to use AMS/LAMS as an impromptu point-defense gun, rather than a missile-slapper. In MWO terms, I suppose it has to code everything that deals damage as "weapon", even if the only thing it damages are missiles.

I find the LAMS useless at this point.. here's why:

My usual 3AMS kitfox.. right now, it has 3 AMS and 4-5 tons of ammo, and it's heat management is 1.43.

I take off the AMS, and it's ammo, replace the ammo with double heat sinks.. and put on a SINGLE LAMS... heat management instantly drops to 0.73?!

WITH MORE HEAT SINKS THAN BEFORE?!

Same thing happens to every mech I try to put LAMS on..

Is this a bug, or is the LAMS as hot as 6 ERLL's?

th LAMS is quite hot.but the heat efficiency vale considers it firing nonstop, which in the battle it doesn't do of course. why don't you mix in lke a single lams so youc na have still some minor antimissile fetaures while the ammo is gone?

also, who needs any ams it's not like any missiles are great.

Yeah lams are really hot, to the point that you need to shut them off if you think you're gonna be firing your weapons in the near future. So not much point getting them imo cause regular ams + 1 ton of ammo weigths the same. Except for something with only gauss weapons i guess.

It's not a weapons problem, it's a UI problem.
Basically what they're saying is their UI can't hold more than 16 lines in their weapon list. They probably thought 16 is plenty, which it usually should be. Now they'd have to update the UI to accommodate more devices and seeing as UI is one of their weak spots, I'm less than confident that'll happen anytime soon.
