I was hoping the Annihilator would dethrone the King Crab... but my initial impression is that the Annihilator is just incredibly slow due to the 300 engine cap. Plus its built like the Empire State Building... sure you can put 6 ac5s on it but if its a big map you get left behind.

Other main problem is that with the 300 cap you can't really use the Endo-Steel Option and enough DHS to keep the heat down or have space for ammo. So you lose 5 tons right there!

Light Engine and 360 cap makes my King Crabs shine again! Love the new tech!

I'm still having fun with my 6ac5 Annihilator etc. but wish it had same engine cap as the KC.

I also note that the NightStar is capped at 345 (3 DHS max) and has hand actuators so I can't imagine it being better than a King Crab either...

Anyone dispute my King Crab's claim to the IS Throne?? Posted Image

P.S.

I mean PGI should at least give the Hero Annihilator a bigger engine cap to really differentiate it from the others. Right now its not compelling to play with given that a Cyclops or even Mauler is much better.

I'm not sure, but i'm leaning towards the Anni being better overall.

IMHO, taller, oddly shaped and skinnier hitboxes are better than short and thick ones.

So far, i've found it surprisingly easy to tank damage in the Annihilator. The King, not so much. If someone wants to hit your CT in the King, you're hard pressed to stop them. Plus, the hardpoints on the King are just so wide. The torso ballistics on the stalker with a periscope are far more usable.

I still love the King Crab, but i'm now of the opinion that if i'm going to sacrifice mobility for Dakka in a 100 tonner, I might as well make extreme sacrifices. 6xAC5@40kph extreme.

My kgcs like to pretend they are mediums. Ac 20 and mpls on them a lot. i'd need to pay them a lot to get good with them and new tech might do it. Mrm 20s are a fun new toy. Two of them on chain fire is 80 or so damage if you can avoid being focused down. Out of my assaults I still find the atlas-d king due to all the armor buffs.

OK so my favorite King Crab KGC-000 build for brawling so far is 2UAC20s + 2 Snub PPCs & a 325 light engine...14 DHS. Chain fire the UAC20s and just watch the heat... possible to switch the Snubs for 2 LPLs but I'm enjoying the new tech...

I definitely prefer the Annihilator to the Crab - better mounts, better hitboxes, crazy armour, 5 ultra 5s (or 6AC5, or 2UAC10 2 UAC5) are awesome too, and dont really leave room for a much bigger engine.

Annihilator is just so slow. Gotten mixed results with it so far. Granted, I'm not normally one for mechs that can't break 70 kph.

Recently, my KGC-000(L) with 325 standard, 2xAC20, 2xML, 2xLRM5 was refitted with a 350 LFE and 2xUAC20 and it just ate people.
