Yesterday I slapped a RAC5 (which is possibly my least favorite weapon from the new tech) onto my K-9 Urbie and had more fun than I've had in hundreds of matches playing MWO!!!

Its possibly the only chassis that gives you the ability to run away and keep the reticle on that poor heavy/assault mech that is blinded by your "shock and awe" RAC5 (or maybe just smoke and noise). You are so hard to hit in an Urbie that its just so damn fun terrorizing assaults with this thing!

While killing other mechs is still next to impossible with a RAC, if you wait until their armor is beat up on the opponents and you can get some good kills. Or sneak up behind that poor Direwolf.

Sure some people get better scores with laser vomit builds etc. but in my first 2 matches I had the second highest damage scores for my team... around 750. Might have had more if I hadn't run out of ammo early.

Just one tip... make sure you hit override once you land because you don't want to shutdown and carry that extra coolshot.

THE MAIN THING IS THAT IT BROUGHT BACK SOME FUN TO GAME! Plus you can annoy people with that siren! Posted Image

Seriously, if you haven't tried it yet it seems to be the only platform I can get to work with a RAC5! Most fun I've had in ages on MWO! Try it but be sure to hit "override" when you land so you don't shutdown... otherwise you are impossible to hit when moving.

First two matches I was 2nd highest damage maker on my team... around 750. Take 3 tons of ammo & 3 ER small lasers.

Try that with RAC2.

The RAC5 do have an insane amount of DPS yet spread all over like LRMs, so 700 damage is just good.

But granted, I love RAC5 on my urbie.

Can you get a few RAC 5's in the same locations or at least on the same side? Seems they spread all over when you have th em on each side of your mech.

I have no idea how you fit a RAC5 plus energy weapons without shaving armor.
I'll stick to my Snurbie for now. Posted Image

Well I only managed to get 1 rac5 on my Urban mech. If you use an e.g. Marauder you can stack 2 with a standard engine. 2 stacked requires a torso, 2 won't fit in an arm.

You can do it with a 180xl engine, 3 tons of ammo, light ferrous armor, 3DHS, and 2 erSLs

Armor on mine (sorry I suck at getting images into this forum):

So on my K9 using all the armor quirks in the skill tree I have: 45 on the legs (-5), 26 on the left arm (-9), 16 on the head (-5) and full armor everywhere else. Mount the lasers in the center torso for safety if you want.
