Personally, I never saw any good reason to use the Micro Laser.

For it's tonnage, damage is actually okay. But then we get that it's just 0.25 tons and 0.50 tons, so the praise is kind of moot.

As a light, while i can sneak behind enemies, i can always just poke from a distance. 6x ERML ACH ala War_glaivez and ****. As a heavier mech, i'd go for better weapons instead. If i went Nova, i'd rather go with 12x ERSL.

So here's a strange idea, what if the ER Micro Lasers and Micro Pulse Lasers act like machine-guns? Basically you can just continuously shoot a beam to your heart's desire, and it would also have good crit value.

Quote

C-ER Micro Laser

Optimal Range: 150m
Max Range: 300m

Damage: 0.12
Rate of Fire: 8
DPS: 0.96
Heat/Shot: 0.07125
Heat/Sec: 0.57

C-Micro Pulse Laser

Optimal Range: 90m
Max Range: 180m

Damage: 0.162
Rate of Fire: 8
DPS: 1.296
Heat/Shot: 0.10125
Heat/Sec: 0.81

What do you think?

Eh, pass. I'd much rather PGI focus on better defining Regular/ER/Pulse/Heavy lasers first.

I think that's what the Micro Pulse Laser should be, not the regular ER Micro. Making both into laser MGs gives them the same role, so it's just a matter of finding the one that completes that role better. One should be about DPS, the other should be about burst.

PGI was on the right track when trying to make pulses into "DPS weapons," with the only issue being that they're being way too overcautious about it. They need to go whole hog.

Yeah
5% here or there doesn't do it

Full on 50%, 200% (Half, Double) to opposing traits is needed for DPS lasers...well, more like half damage 1/3 RoF because of the facetime disadvantage...but still a far cry from 5%

I was thinking that the C-ER Micro Laser would be the "Light MG" and the C-Micro Pulse Laser would be the "Heavy" MG.

In terms of performance it goes like this:

Heavy MG > Micro Pulse Laser > MG > ER Micro Laser > Light MG

Basically, the Laser MG would fill that spot in between the MGs and the LMG or the HMG.
