The Reason, Why Polar Highlands Should Be Deleted From This Game

A big part of having any success in this game is adapting to the tactics your opponent is using.
They're hanging back in a proper firing line and using range? Then use the trenches to flank wide, and take along an ECM equipped buddy or two. Target one of the major backline LRM\PPC boats and make his life miserable with airstrikes and double-teams.
It may not mean victory 100% of the time, but you're increasing your odds instead of sitting paralyzed and waiting to die.

In this case, I don't actually recall that being the situation. The caldera got the lion's share of the hate, as opposed to the rest of the map. It kinda blindsided me when I learned PGI was totally, ground up, redesigning the map. I was expecting modifications, not a total restart from scratch.

I liked the old TT... except for the center. Everything about that map was fantastic. The art, the colors, the atmosphere. Except for the crater in the center. If they had replaced that crater with more of the hills and volcanoes that stud the rest of the map, it would have been perfect.
While the center could be problematic with people not pushing in and stacking up on the ramp and getting picked off one by one, I didn't think it was really that bad. Not so bad that it had to be removed or redesigned. And now on the new version, it's off all by itself and never used. I went there on a recent drop and was disappointed that there isn't any ramps going up to it except the fallen platform inside of it. Too bad. Had a lot of good (and bad, of course) matches in there. Would love to see the original back in the rotation.

Actually used it, once. In CW Invasion, it was a skirmish match. I convinced the entire team to push into that caldera overwatch ring and wait. It was a slaughter. XD The enemy just couldn't get in there effectively. Narrow approaches meant they had to come in one or two at a time, and the focus fire was very real.
Edit: Found it!

I did the same thing during the last FW event. The enemy got smart and decided to wait after a few bad attempts , but my own PUGs got impatient and started trading. One even trying to do so with MGs...
So much potential, wasted!

NO!
ROFL! I don't want to see any maps dropped (even the "bad" ones, less variety certainly won't help the game), but if I *had* to pick one, yes it would be Alpine. IMHO of course
Maybe if it got picked more often there would be harsher things to say, and surely Alpine works out great for many.
Now if we could just get the Dom point on Plexus moved...

The old TT was fantastic for Domination. I've had many games where my team had pushed out the enemy, sometimes with their tail between their legs, and kept them out.

It does certainly seem to play differently than the others and I wouldn't want to see it go away. Lot of different things can happen on that map between all the modes. Although Domination on it can be pretty meh. If I had to pick one that had to go it would be a toss up between Terra Therma and Polar Highlands. I probably wouldn't mind PH so much if it didn't get played so often. But TT, despite almost never getting played, I just don't like.

So you managed to avoid all the negative terrain cover to break line of sight, wandered into open firing lanes, got nuked because of your failure to utilize the low ground and smart approaches, did the exact same thing four times in a row,and are blaming PGI for poor map design ...bla bla bla
You may be correct in some of this but why do you need to say it. Cant the OP have an opinion.
you get off on slamming people.

Yeah...OP can have an opinion, even if it's selfish and garbage (which he has a history of). Rather than adapt, he'd rather complain to try to get his narrow minded way. I get people posting things to fit their ulterior motives, but thankfully the devs aren't shortsighted enough to follow through on such crap.

Oh lawdy. Someone was correct, stated the truth, and rustled some jimmies. He will survive. Nobody ever died because their feelings were hurt. (Suicidal tendencies are another story, and not a joke.) He didn't need you to save him, and how dare you belittle him by assuming so. You should be ashamed.
Everyone has opinions. Opinions, however, can be wrong, and operating under a wrong idea can be, and often is, self destructive. So who's the bad guy here? I'm giving him the truth. He can choose to adapt or not, but at least he sees the truth. You want me to not call him out on bad approaches, which would hurt him and his enjoyment of the game long term.
Shame on you.

All that, I I've really only got a SNV and HMN-PK with LRMs out of the 11 mechs I use most.
Right now I'm stuck on piloting a NVA-S with 6 Heavy Med Lasers and 4 Heavy Machine Guns. When on Polar, it's still fun.
Edited for bad grammar.
