I think out of all the mechs that benefited from new tech, the old Dragon gained the most. With its generous armor quirks, LFE, and the -40 percent UAC jam chance on the 5N, the sleeping Dragon has awoken.

Skilled with Survival, Firepower, and Operations, you basically have a rotary 5 that can be fired without wind up and will never jam. I don't think I've ever had all three UAC 2s jam at the same time. Just keep at a decent range and rain ac fire with your super UAC gun arm.

I was using this on PTS.

It's quite good.

The dragon has indeed risen. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...cf67134d504479e

Gotta say, it has become quite impressive.

Civil war patch really gives DRG wider options

2x HPPC on 1C's shoulder for ultimate hill humping experience (playing against defensive opponent is sure way to get stellar result)

UAC on 5N

FANG can abuse the ERPPC buff due to its generous heat reduction quirk

Rockets can be used as a filler for its rarely used missile hardpoints

It can be a fairly tanky mech with LFE by using arm and side torso as shield (using standard gave up too much firepower)

Light FF open up more critical slots

definitely a good patch for DRG pilots

Not with that speed. No. Dragon needs to move. Since you need to nurse that arm, it's rarely producing results as a brawler so you may as well stay with an XL.

Honestly i don't understand why people use LFE's in dragons. If you swapped to an XL-265 you would get more speed, and an extra couple heat sinks, to run at 40% which is a decent step up.

Dragons weapons are basically in the arms anyway, If your loosing your Side torso, you pretty much lost most of your fire power on most builds. It's like losing 20 KPH on certain mechs just to have 2 ML's to zombie.

IMO that is not a good trade off.

Maybe LFE on the 1C, or Flame, But IMO it's a waste on the 5N. Especially with the durability quirks and ST if you are spreading damage well, you should be able to spread enough to keep going till your arms are gone

The whole point of the Dragon is to go fast. A 250 just doesnt cut it in a Dragon.

XL or bust.

I don't mind going slow in IS heavies. I prefer the LFE so I can sacrifice my entire left side if need be. Use the massive range and velocity of the UAC2s to compensate. The 5N 3 UAC2 build works best when you are playing second line fire support within the bulk of your team.

Yea, but that is kinda the point.. Your a second line fire support/flanker, you shouldn't be taking that much heat in the first place. That build has bad cooling to begin with, i can't imagine how bad it is after loosing the torso.

But hey, can always play 50-100 matches in each build, see which you consistently do better in

Dragons with ACs, which, should be the only ones, need to seek out injured mechs with exposed components or find a flank to dig in on and let the dakka fly. If with the group, best to let the big guys get all the aggro and then pop out from behind to double down on whatever is getting pummeled.

I still run XL on almost all of my DRG builds, however with the introduction of LFE and last hitbox change open up possibilities of using its right side as shield in builds like 3 LPL or similar. Its right arm is big, quite tanky and it is impossible to hit CT from the side.

My most stable DRG build is allrounder where it can out-poke/snipe more than half of the enemy and can out brawl more than half of the enemy. Then it is matter of picking right fight

the 2s just dont hit hard enough though. I prefer UAC5/AC5/x2 ERML personally. Or Gauss/x2 ERLL.

and you can stick a rocket launcher in that missile hardpoint for LOLs
