Every time I've tried to play this game lately, my entire computer crashed just after the players picked the map and game mode, does anyone know what could be causing this? I've tried reinstalling the game and my graphics card drivers, but neither of these helped.

Sounds like you are hitting your maximum amount of RAM available during the map load.

Howdy, I used to crash all the time. Turn all your graphics settings to low. This game is not well optimized and it makes your GPU it's B****.

Your computer actually crashing is a system issue, in that MWO, at least for your system, is acting as a stress test and your system is failing. Just for clarification, when your system crashes, is it rebooting or a hard lockup?

Post your dxdiag.

What changes have you made to your system recently?

Heat related.
Open up the case and clear out dust buildup on the heatsinks. Make sure all fans are actually running.

Uninstall and reinstall your GPU drivers.
