PGI has fixed this issue.
If it is still apparent the fix was probably not effective.

it only seems to happen when I fire UACs manually, because I think theres a small window right after the weapon comes off cooldown, where if you pull the trigger it can jam on the first shot.
but when I use a macro it never seems jams on the first shot, presumably because the macro never fires the weapon during that window where it can jam on the first shot.

Welcome to what Clan players have been dealing with for years. UACs are great when the work but they are jammed and not working so often, you can't rely on them. I have virtually removed UACs off all my mechs, Clans and IS unless I can boat them or have quirks that reduce jam chance.

I have tested this on Testing Grounds with a 2 x UAC5 Hellbringer and fired off 4 tons of ammo in test both with the Skill Tree UAC Jam reduction node and without it. That was before it was changed to jam duration reduction. Double tapping away all my ammo resulted in one or both weapons being jammed 25-27% of the shots. I have not done the full test with one UAC to see if it is better. I have also experienced the jam after the first shot without double tapping many times. The last time I played, which was before the July patch, a single UAC10 jammed on subsequent shots. I was double tapping and it jammed after the first shoot then cleared and jammed after the next shot without the double tap.
My mixed UAC/Laser Hellbringer was my favorite build to run. I have lost faith in the build because of the lack of reliability of the UACs and now I run Laser vomit like almost everyone else. I have lobbied Chris for jam chance reduction quirks on Mechs than can only use one or two UACs in a build.
Sorry to hear that the IS is experiencing the same issues but hopefully if both sides are finding this to be the case then something will get done to fix it permanently.

On the other hand hbk2c can quite often run through 2 tons of uac10 ammo without jamming...
**** seed i would assume.

i kind of wish they would redo the jam mechanic to something less annoying, like rolling for rounds, or use some heuristics to stop excessive jams, or tie it into heat so that jam chance scales between 0-20% based on the current heat level so its more likely to jam when you run hot.

Well they could give them a jam bar like the RAC's, just adjust how fast it fills/depletes based on the size of the AC. Any option beyond random chance would be better.

not sure i like the jam bar, at least not pgi's implementation. just scale the jam chance by the heat level. im sure pgi knows how to multiply.
