It is really killing my nerves.
Sometimes when I equip something I cant pay for, I can't up the armor anymore. I then have to put everything out of the mech that I can't afford, then I can play with the armor, guessing the numbers that I need after adding light-ferro or something else.
Sometimes I can play around completely normal.
I can't make out a pattern, it just sucks.

I've found that it only goes wonky when I'm using light-ferro fibrous armor.

That's actually supposed to happen the first time you apply armor points... If you save with max armor at any point, it shouldn't cost you anything for adding/removing armor ever again.

Any armor type change is going to cost you. It's supposed to be that way.

Odd whenever i've changed armour on any of my mechs before i've never had to pay to equip a new armour type. I geuss LFF is different then?

No, you were just experiencing a bug all the other times... It's supposed to cost c-bills to switch to/from any armor type.

The changing armor type, Ferro or Std, the cost drops the lighter the mech and if you had already purchased other equipment you may not have noticed. Ferro for 100 IS Assault is 500,000 while for a 35-ton light is 150,000. Then to remove said items if had been previously equipped/saved would cost about half those amounts.
Before equipping new components, up the armor first. In the mech lab it tells you the current tonnage and the max tonnage in the upper part of the screen. In the default expanded screen it sits between the Left Torso and Warehouse items and above the Left arm.
Use Endo first if you have the slots in IS battlemechs, as it provides a higher weight savings than Ferro.

There is a bug in the armor section of the mech lab, but its not exactly what has been talked about here. The bug is about the number of critical slots occupied once stealth armor has been selected on the mech. The paper doll gets the updated slots taken, but the number doesn't change. I have sent a email to support regarding this, hoping to see it fixed in next patch. Though its a bit odd it still exists here almost a month after the release, when they have done other hot fix patch. I've been away from the game a bit and hadn't noticed it until I started playing with the new tech. I really wish I could have got on the PTS to get bit of a heads up in regards to how all the new tech would work, but I just couldn't manage it. It seems like the PTS is only around for about a weekend so you have to force yourself to go there immediately or just miss the LRM boat. -- Awe darn blast it!

You are aware that It takes up 2 armor slots in everything but the head and CT? But also correct the number of available slots currently are not updating but will be in the next patch.
• MechLab: Fixed an issue where the 'Slots' count in the 'Mech Stats window would be incorrect with Stealth Armor equipped.
