After tinkering around for days now, I haven't found too much use for the light gauss.

The basic problems:
- The weight saving compared to the gauss is just too small
- The damage differenc to the gauss is too big
- The range difference to gauss and ERPPC is too small. In almost every case an ERPPC is the better alternative.

the IMHO most easy solution:

make the min rang 1200 and the max range 2400 or even more. Keep everything else as it is now.

to be consistent with the other gauss range data it would also be possible to go for 1200/2000 range, as Heavy gauss has a 5 fold max range

Heavy Gauss: 180/900
Gauss: 660/1320
Light Gauss: 1200/2000 (or 1000/1800 if the previous values are too high)

That way your would fill a extreme longrange niche that even the ERPPC cant reach and you "pay" enough for that adantage by using up 12 tons of space. The usual gauss mechanics not to be able to fire more than 2 at the same time should be enough to prevent single hit kills.

Yes, I am aware that in the TechManual a light gauss has approximately the same range values as AC2s (this is what we actually have ingame). But I do not see they will be used in the state they are right now.

Would be sad to have a weapon designed for the trash can (no, I do not refer to Urbies...)
