I refuse to ignore my gorilla armed children (even though I'm only good at grinding them into slag) and I'm adding some new tech to squeeze some performance out of them. Anyone else using them to good effect? Seems like the LFE really gives me a little more time in game, but kinda depends on the load out I'm going for.

The 3D has UAC jam chance quirks, try to capitalize on it. Like with two UAC/10s, or a UAC/20 and a UAC/5!

Give them skills like Cool run, heat gen, jam duration, etc. and go wild with it! Don't forget to put in your Targeting Computers, even just a level 1 gives some nice bonuses well worth the slot and ton.

Here's what I'm running on my 3D. Used to run 2xUAC5 2xPPC with a 280XL and get 400ish damage a match, now I run 2xUAC10 and 3xERML with a LXL275 and get 600ish.

Bonus points for new players: the 3D gives you a dead side to shield with, so you'll get practice torso twisting.

I'm tempted to give the Cataphract 4X another chance with some RACs...

Running the 0XP as a stealth armor sniper:

CTF-0XP

Despite the heat build up from active stealth the PPC+Gauss combo keeps the cataphract quite cool, as you spam ppc and gauss rifle.

I've been having a ton of fun with the 3D lately. Two UAC10's with a pair of er meds and an LFE or 4 meds and an XL.

The XL in particular, with a few JJ's and speed tweak, you get some serious mobility on something that has 80+ armor on side torsos and 100+ CT.

Anyone have a good build for the CTF-4X? Best I've used is quad AC2 or LBX2, almost on-par with dual RAC5 with less overheating.

That's a tough one.

Quad AC5's were always the best back in the day, but you need an XL for that.

RAC5's with a large pulse might work. So would a pair of UAC10's and medium lasers.

I'm toying with the idea of quad UAC2 but I'm honestly not sure if that'd be the best use of the chassis. I really wish the RAC2 didn't have ghost heat, otherwise 4 of those would be great

I have been using the 0XP as a mini-Misery. It twists fast enough that you can shield with the left side and hits hard enough to be a viable skirmisher and even brawl in a pinch.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0e88a64f6b8512e

The weapons are all awkwardly low, but that is compensated by having a fully one-sided loadout for using corners as cover.

Its amazingly effective and fun.

I run it with a smaller LFE or with the XL and 4 mediums. Dual 10's really heat up so you've got to pick your spots with the laser burns. You've got to be careful with the double taps too so you avoid the ghost heat.

The JJ's are key and you want to right side poke your way to victory.

I don't know how or why, but I do very well in my 4X with 2xAC10, 2xMG, 2xMPL + COMPIV. I did alright with all three quad builds: UAC2/AC2/LBX2, but I really settled in with the AC10 build. It feels very accurate and I have an easy time destroying components.

I think I’m allergic to the UAC10 - I swear they jam every third shot! I stick with regular vanilla AC10, and it’s been reliable.

I use an AC/10 for my Shadowhawk build, and it works well - it's a striker, so I don't need the semi-reliable burst as much as the constant poking damage.

(PSA: You can highlight text and click the "add link" button above - it's just after the bullet- and numbered-point buttons on the lower toolbar - to create clean, labeled links like the one above. Everyone already knows you're linking to smurfy, and using a proper link cleans up your post a lot, making it more readable.)

Picked up an unused CTF-0XP from my mech collection earlier today, and ended up turning it into a heavier, uglier stealth Hunchback: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...58a94830627d74e

Does the job pretty well, all things considered, even with no skill points applied whatsoever.
