Maybe I'm missing something here but it seems that the matchmaker system would create much more even matchups if it was based on a pilot's average match score rather than how long they've been in the game.
It even seems to me that matchscore trumps tonnage in many cases.
Anyone that watches some of the more skilled twitch streamers will see that they can do more with 40 tons than most can do with 80.
It seems that filling opposing dropships with pilots of a similar avg matchscore would create much more even matches than we are getting currently.

I think a number that is based on the yearly or career total of a player's avg Match Score + KDR would work best (A new tracked stat)..
Because yes i agree, that a player stat that is based solely on a player's skill is a must when balancing players in games...
And the current PSR is a stat that a bad player can if (s)he has played long enough, be carried up into the higher tiers...
