Well... Considering that it's a list of like 50 separate lines or so, a voice actor(s) could be hired to do that literally in one day. So there is that. Second, it would be cool to have the option to have angry Clan colonel dude instead of Betty, or perhaps the male counterpart to Betty's AI like voice.
Last PGI is in this business to make money, not make us happy, so they could monetize separate voice packs. You know the ol' market and incomplete game and sell dlc to have complete features gig.

But that whole "the original voice actor is not available" or that they don't have resources.. that's a bunch if bull. Hire some wandering homeless vagrant from the streets of Vancouver and pay her 3 schillings to record all the old lines plus the new ones. Bam. done. Layer over synthesizer and we're in business.
Alternatively, there are those really neat programs that have been out for some 20 years where you type to talk... many are free to use and can pull off Betty pretty damn close.
So there. Make an excuse for that.

You know text to speech generators have come a long way, might be worth thinking about.

A real live actress, famous in the MW series actually did the voice overs. Be grateful

more likely the original voice actor left the company.

no, i dont want tina to do it. it might work on a '70s themed urbie promotional video, but not as a computer voice. and maybu if pgi wouldnt outsource what little talent keeps their game together and would have somone onhand to do it.

they got carol in who did the voice acting from mw2.

If you strip the bass line from her voice, add some echo, and boost the treble a little bit (all to make it sound more computer voicey) it sounds exactly like carols voice from mw2

They could record new lines. Or have some one add to the mlg betty which i find both more useful and funny as hell while running around in a light.

You could just use the MLG Bitchin' Betty, then it feels more like a feature and less like sloppiness. Is that lock warning for LRMs, S-SRMs, or ATMs? Lol who cares

They could do what Irrational Games did with FF and FFvtTR, just have an employee do the voices.
I don't know how PGI does things though.

Don't agree with everything in the video but it is funny.

Its really sorta interesting to me how well PGI has adopted the battletech concept of Lostech.

The only usefull thing betty says is ammo at 25%. Everything else is just ambience and if you actually rely on betty to update you on incoming missiles or lost components, then you're just oblivious. Personally, I think it is hilarious as betty reads out a long list of equipment that has been destroyed as I fight for my life, 'bitching' betty indeed.

Well I like it. I like that she reads out what was destroyed as i focus on the environment and enemies instead of looking at the hud. Even if you do look at the hud its not like you can tell a heatsink was destroyed. I wish she would give even more details.

I still have no idea why PGI doesn't monetize this feature. Those few lines are maybe a day's work for a voice actor, rest can be done by internals. Now get some actors and do different sets of betty with different themes - people will buy those like they buy camo and warhorns (given you hear them when spectating).

Totally agree. People buy hud skins and announcers in other games like DotA and what not even though nobody else knows you have. I think it's a worthy investment in time and money for PGI to figure out how to pull this off in a graceful fashion, lore-wise and IRL-wise

I'd pay for one with one of the UT announcer VAs.
