Congrats to all who managed to get this achievement! However since you need, among other things, to lose a leg, both arms and both STs and survive the match in order to qualify, I think this achievement will now be next to impossible; with LFE in game you either can't lose 2 STs or go with a STD engine which is a flat out nerf to almost any build you can come up with...
Sure there are those HG\LB20 builds but it still lowers the chances dramatically.
I don't think however that PGI should change it. Those who got it deserve to put it out there and, IMO, having 'legacy' titles that are no longer available is kind of cool, even if I didn't get it myself Posted Image

I was close to it once. The only thing left besides CT and a leg was an open and cherry red RT. I still have some Std engine builds so it is possible to randomly get it one day.

Maybe that's part of the challenge of it. Having to run a standard.

No, you can still earn it. If someone chooses to equip or play a mech that has a hard time earning it, that's on the player. It's still just as possible to get the award as before.

if you want to get it for completionist purposes, you still can. Just mount a standard engine and go. No different than for pure clan players before.

That's the thing, since LFE was introduced, a lot of 'Mechs on the battlefield got 'upgraded' since LFE is just plain better than STD unless you plan on using the 11 crit slot weapons... on all other 'Mechs its like another Endo upgrade which takes 4 slots instead of 14..
So if you choose to run a STD you will now have even harder times since the 'Mechs you are now against equip a better engine than yours.

The notable exception in my mind is the Stalker. Quite a few builds still need a standard, and with the low engine cap it doesn't really hurt it.

Thats like the Purple heart, it looks nice but you dont want it and if you do... you can always make it happen, no one forces lfe on anyone.

This right here. You don't run LFEs on Stalkers outside of some niche stuff (and I wouldn't at all, since it's only a 300 either way), and they're still workable assaults.

Well, there are plenty mechs were the issue is not the weight of the engine, but the number of slots. (you can't even use the IS LBX20 without a standard)

When I keep a standard in my loadout, its probably because there is a low max rating for the engine and would rather fill up those slots with weapons/gear

about half my mechs will keep their STD, most of the rest will get LFE and only about 6 mechs out of my 120 will keep their XL. i always hated the vulnerability of XL i found its rarely worth it, i have it on some mediums and lights but no heavies or assaults.

Funny I've been trying to find some builds for the Misery to see if I should buy it following the sale and just couldn't find any proper build with a LFE that wasnt toasty as hell.. I guess I didn't want to admit there's no room for it on a stalker..

I got mine in a Supernova.

I think I will have a lot of IS mechs riddled with STDs for the foreseeable future. The cure is too expensive.

still a difference if you had to do this within the old weapons and tech or now with clans and new tech.

The STD engine is not dead I have upgraded only about a 1/3 of my STD builds to LFE either I don't have the slots or gain nothing from upgrading. If I can't gain 8-10 kph and at least keep the same cooling whats the point?

If you've got the space bucks, LFE 300 saves 4.5 tons at the cost of 4 crit slots, endo can do the same only on 90t+ 'Mechs, and that's at the price of 14 slots. So yeah, assuming you've got the cash (or are willing to swap around engines like I do) it's a flat upgrade to endo.

Here is one. You may not like the build but I do. All I would gain from a LFE is a little speed and lose 1 HS. With engine decouple I don't think its worth it.

the difficulty has not changed...you are making it seem it has an appearance of higher difficulty because of more choices.
