So the firestarter hero mech, Ember, has a quirk that gives increased ROF for IS machine guns. My question is, does that apply to all machine guns including the new tech (heavy and light) or does it only apply to the standard machine guns?

It applies to all machine guns.

Awesome thanks for that, I put 4 heavys on there and was wondering if the ROF applied or not and couldnt really tell. Much appreciated.

Yeah it works well with the 4 heavys, just gotta get up close obviously. Strip some armor away a few medium lasers and then tear components/structure apart with the machineguns.

wow, that's actually a lot. I recently tried Light MG's on an Arrow and they are effective. I don't really like lights, but might have to pick the Ember up at some point. Light MG's are fun.
I don't get that mech working. With light MGs it seems to lack firepower. With HMGs you need to get too close. I wish I hadn't bought it

ive doing really well with it. 4 er med lasers and 4 heavy machine guns. You want to target mechs that are already damaged/have armor removed so you can crit components and destroy structure. Im getting kills left and right with it.

I have to admit that I haven't tried it with ERMLs yet. Maybe it is a good way to keep distance and do some damage till later. However, these things run hot

They do run hot but it definitely helps to close the gap and to keep you in the fight when you are not at close range. Some skills towards heatgen/cool run def help other than that just timing or chain firing if you are at that point. It all depends on your playstyle too some mech builds work for some and not others. For instance im a noob who cant fire gauss rifles to save his life >.<
