1st Place!

Mechwarrior Online World Champions

$21,387 / 35,645 (USD)

60% of the Prize Pool

Is that per player (8 or 12 ?) or is that total winnings given to team captain to distribute as they see fit ?

4th and 5th Place
  • 4 Mechbays
  • 25,000 MC
  • 25,000,000 C-Bills
  • 2 Ultimate tiers from their choice of Mech Pack(s)

Is that per player (8 or 12 ?) or is that total winnings given to team captain to distribute as they see fit ?

I would guess its per person, but you can never be sure with pgi's track record, might be mechbays per person and MC per team and cbills and mech packs per person......

It was nice of them to let us know about these things 48 hours before team formation deadline, and add

"
Teams must have played a minimum of 20 Matches in Comp Play in order to participate for any of the Prizes above.

"

I guess enough people must have requested clarification on that on reddit/twitter, I was sure it wouldn't be for just 1 game as soon as prizes were announced, but couldn't be bothered making a topic, because I thought both these issues would get addressed simultaneously.... I guess not.

Please be clearer. Thankyou PGI.

The Prize Pool is total winnings distributed to the team. We won't give the total sum to the Captain, however the Captain will have to provide the distributed % for each player on their team (up to the 12 if they wish), once we have that we would proceed with a PayPal transfer to the individuals on the roster.

Each item/bullet point is the rewards for each Player on the team roster, includes subs.

For teams ranked 13 and below, they have until December to complete the minimum of 20 Matches. That's 5 matches per month (for 4 months) for every team to receive the participation goods.

when that com casual thread came up i thought it was fishy that nobody had a number for how many drops were actually required. i formed my team on the grounds of '2 games' anyway considering diminishing window of oppritunity. after reading all the rules in full looking to see whats the catch, it still wasnt clear until the 20 game bombshell. id have liked to know that in advance before i convinced 12 people to join my team on the grounds of easy money. a few at least seem to be in it for the long haul.

im not really angry about it either, for me it was also an opportunity to give competitive play a shot and make some scratch in the process. though it does kind of make me feel like a richard johnson for getting a team together on what is now false pretenses. hopefully enough of them are willing to participate in light of the rule change.

You had ~6 weeks to form a team.
Around 3-5 teams showed strong intrest and tried to get games. This went up to maybe 15 teams over time.

The first ruleset mentioned 10 games to qualify (not sure where you read the '2 games'). Now they doubled it because so many teams signed up just to farm prizes without any intrest in comp or the mode itself.
I mean the ruleset is kind of meh, and changing it every week is not that great either, but all this stuff has been mentioned beforehand by the community.

The prizes are still great for just playing the game and 20 games is like 3-5 evenings. Seals are grinding more to get a free color on some weekends!!

Last years hype for this tournament was a couple times higher, but the prize pool was four or five times as big. Sure that most guys don't bother messing around 6 months for roughly 200$ on the 3rd place.

Tina, sent you a PM, sent an email to support.

With PGI changing the minimum matches to 20 (a number I don't find to be too difficult given the rewards), I would again ask that you guys consider unlocking the rosters and give our "recent arrivals" another week or so to get themselves straight. Given the chatter on the various forums/discords about it, alot of of the casual/recent teams were completely turned off by this 20 min limit, but many would like to continue on with it -- but they may not be able to because not everyone in their particular mix of 8-12 is willing to come back for 19 more matches.

2 games was mostly based on rumor. the rules page they set up made no reference to the number of games required. nor could i find any reference to it anywhere (i read an absurd amount of stuff trying to figure it out). i guess i didnt read the right tldr patch notes or twitter post or listen to the most recent town hall / round table / drunken banter. i dont see why they weren't included in the official rules list thus eliminating confusion. still 20 games over several months is still worth playing, and my team has already scratched off 2. if i knew the participation prize was so fat id have joined/formed a team long before the deadline.

Yes with the sudden rule drop, an extension really is necessary to reorganize. I'd ibe nterested in the prizes for 20 games, but my now existing comp team may not be.

yea, the rules have been badly communicated. Prizes came way too late as well.
10 games have been mentioned in the first patch notes where comp-q dropped. They said something like you need 10 games to show up on the leaderboard, I guess that equals 'qualify'. They later lowered that number to 1 because just 2 teams showed up on the leaderboard for quite some time.
