As a Founder. I am quite appalled at the progress this game has taken. Other Online games have exploded with content in the time MWO has been out. In 5 years the FEW big thing MWO has shelled out is
1. PREORDER MECHS
2. A few new maps A FEW!!!!!
3. New gamemodes, which are basically just skirmish with new conditions
4. Faction gameplay.
5. In only this year they decided to up the era and add New weapons.

There are over 400 Mechs in the store online.

I played MWO when it first came out. I loved the game, But it quickly got old. I can confirm from my MC purchases from converting MC of when I was on this game and when I stopped.
I bought founders on October 29th 2012. I play until until December 2014. That lasted until the 1st of February 2015. Faction Gameplay came out and the Clan mechs were out. I didnt play again until August 2016. That lasted for one day. I come back and I just see TONS OF NEW MECHS, How were they added? First you could buy them, then they were available as MC, then you got them as CBills. HOLY **** ON A STICK! PGI, quit with the PREORDER MECHS.
Heres some criticism, do collaboration. Takes less time and you all get to share input. Saves money. Show us some videos at least. But holy hell. 5 YEARS! RUNESCAPE accomplished more in 5 years than you guys have.

I've been around since closed beta, and in that time I've learned to accept one thing. PGI really can't deliver anything but a sluggish trickle when it comes to new content. Seriously, cold tree sap moves faster. So take a deep breath and learn to embrace your minimally viable mech game, because shadow deep is about all we're gonna get.

One must also take into account the size of their team is not anything near the size of the likes of world or Warcraft or whatever.

I am not really looking for content just functionalilty and polish.

The content I desire is the emergent gameplay created by the player base, not a useless skin or cockpit boggle.

This is, in part what happens when you literally cannot fully comprehend your own game's coding. Straight from PGI's mouth on that. How can you efficiently improve the game when you don't even have it's inner functions properly documented?

PGI is running MWO with the equivalent of half the operations manual. If that. They can tinker, but they can't effectively add to or modify the engine in more than the smallest of ways. It was pretty obvious with the PTS release that the first attempts at much of the weaponry was straight up number juggling, like the ATMs having copy-pasted minrange from LRMs, down to the 180m distance.

The game is being run with cut-to-the-bone-and-more money spent on doing anything save business as usual, never mind major fixes that other games would likely have managed years ago with a better understanding of how their supposed own game actually functions.

Edit: Also, knowing one of the Runescape devs, believe me. They actually aren't running with an incomplete knowledge of their own game. Quite the opposite.

Considering how much money Star Citizen generated through crowd funding it's rather sad how poorly PGI is at generating revenue. I like MWO, but it could have been so much more. I don't regret the money I've spent, I would hand them more money if they weren't so blatantly hostile towards the players, but I have no expectations of the game actually getting better. I figure it will simply tool along for a few more years. Hopefully by then someone else will buy the rights and put out the Battletech/Mechwarrior game the fan base deserves.

Or how about you accept that they're doing a great job despite having to buy out a publisher that saw this game as a cash grab, being a small team, and the complexity of a game like MWO. As someone who works in game development, I can tell you straight up that just the UI makes other designers shudder at the thought of having to tackle something that massive, let alone the not-insignificant amount of gameplay intricacies in this game.

When you act like content is easy to develop, you underscore your own lack of understanding w/r/t the development process. PGI is doing a solid job, objectively, when you consider their limitations. Your personal opinion might differ from that assessment, but that doesn't mean that what you feel is accurate.

So they flat out said in a manner of speaking. They're incapable of producing the means to create a game that meets the needs of the consumer? WHY THE HELL DO THEY HAVE THE LICENSE IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Microsoft owns the rights, PGI doesn't, they're using the license from Microsoft. Its a trade deal, only Microsoft keeps the product and makes royalties while PGI gets to keep some of the money they make from producing the game.

Obviously because Battletech and Mechwarrior just aren't as lucrative as they were 10-15 years ago.

We don't get a lot of content and have to put up with all sorts of stability ******** because the PGI team is tiny. Wargaming.net has ~4000 people on the payroll. Riot has ~1000. Gaijin has ~175. PGI only has ~65.

The MWO Founders packs only raised $5 million. That's one guy pissing into the ocean compared to what Riot or Wargaming make every year.
