A single missile hardpoint, two energy ( maybe three? ), one ecm, and stealth armor. The tiny trashcan becomes the stalking garbage disposal of the battlefield, a fiend of the highest orders of fear. His very presence nigh undetectable, but always felt by the corpses of charred mechs left in his wake.

You know you want it.

---------

Some fun little theorycrafting to bide my time while I wait for my chance to return to solid ground. What would you build with such a contraption, my brothers? Any fantasy of different hardpoints for our fine metal trashking?

Personally:

NARC-1.5t ammo

2/3 MPL

SA

ECM

@Koniving

My quote system doesn't work for some reason, but I could not agree with you more. What's better is I would love to see the hilarity of a four/five/six missile hardpoint UM running around. Do you wonder what that would cause?

Beautiful chaos.

The UM-68 uses only tech currently in the game... just like the UM-69 and UM-R70. So, I'll decline to theorycraft Urban fantasies for now, and instead demand Urban reinforcements!

@WrathofDeadGuy

I must ask, again as the uncultured God-King I am, what the devil is an UM-Reinforcement?

Are we speaking of a lance of UM helping their fellow assaults?

An UM pack?

A new UM tech leap to keep up with the times?

UM-R68 should happen, like NAOW! (plz plz loyalty w/glossy paisley pattern plz!)
UM-R69 and -R70 are redundant; no real hard points changed.
UM-R80 is all energy/ECM (we just have to pretend we never heard what an 'improved jump jet' was).
I'd like to see the -R68 with 2M/4E or 3M/3E as I think it's just an -R63 with the ballistics replaced. That would give us a pretty broad range of load outs.

Don't forget about the mystery UM-R6X with MG in the torso...

R-80 sounds roughly like what is needed, but lacks the 1M hardpoint...

Also the UM-R6X sounds like I would replace the MG with something bigger lol!

I still believe that our beloved divine ballistic will one day show me the way of an ST ballistic hardpoint for the UM.

And should the demons of the beam ever find a way to make an ECM UM...well...the temptation might be too great

UM-R6X is basically a sub-variant of the R60, from what I understand. It was the basis for the R63, which replaced the MG with a SPL (and the AC10 with LB10X). There were a lot of adaptations made to the Urbanmechs over the years- because they were typically assigned to low-priority garrisons, the units that operated them frequently had to resort to "field expedient" repairs and had a fair bit of leeway in making alterations to their machines. So, somewhere in the long history of the Urbanmech, somebody mounted an MG in the torso because, hey, it's meant for urban fighting, so why not have another anti-infantry weapon to supplement the SL? MGs are cheap. It became a popular refit, because it's a good idea- most garrisons spent most of their time putting down revolts or fighting pirates with more vehicles than 'Mechs, so two more points of damage makes a big difference.

Later on, somebody took a look and said "sure, that makes sense, but why don't we save half a ton and give it some extra sustainability?"... then pulse laser tech was rediscovered, so now the MG is an SPL in the production version, the AC10 is an LB10X, and that's the R63.

"The more you know" *Queue the rainbow*

Unfortunately for the history of BT, having a ballistic slot in my chest means I'm using it for something else in *game*. But I could perfectly agree with that in a historical sense.

What do you think would be a unique hardpoint UM to build mm?

If I recall right, it's been mentioned in passing that there was a missile system equipped urbanmech in use by the DCMS, though it would be a pretty rare sub-variant.

Oh I agree completely. Give me a torso ballistic Urbie, and I'm sticking a UAC10 in it- no question. Being able to strip the arms would yield the tonnage to make that actually viable, which IMO it isn't with the arm mounts (AC10 Urb is barely usable and AC20 is a pure troll build, though fun as hell). That's at least 0.5t each from the RA and LA, assuming standard armor. A full extra ton? Please, gimme!

As for hardpoints... Since the UM-68 has missiles, go ham on the M hardpoints- 4xM or 3xM in the RA, 2xE in the LA. For the UM-69, I'd say 6xB RA and 1xE LA (more ballistics and fewer energy for the UAC10 variant). UM-R70 would get 2xB RA, 1xE LT, 2xE LA (to differentiate it from the R63 rather than for any other reason).

Torso Ballistic UM would allow for true turret status.

STD60/AC20 or bust.

I have actually, and seriously played STD60/AC20, it's not terrible. Not good, but not terrible.

On a more serious note UAC 5 or RAC 5 would be my go to in a torso ballistic, range is far more tolerable and the RAC is my next go-to testbed weapon for my masochism.

If the R-68 ran missiles I'd love to see a 5 missile platform with 2 energy. Imagine the fear of lights running into a StreakCan, or a SplatCan, maybe even an MrmCan?

The R-69 an 70 don't seem to offer much beyond placement of hardpoints, though with respect that can change entire builds.

Oh.

OH.

Triple AMS,ECM, 2B, 4E UM.

I wish this game had some Urbanmechs, instead of all of these silly suburban 'mechs that get to run around at 190bajillion KPH. The Annihilator was supposed to be designed to move at similar speeds to the Urbanmech, so why do the "urbies" in MWO move twice as fast as the annie?

With that said, if there WAS an urbie that could only move about 50kph, then giving it stealth and really great weaponry would make sense.. In Tabletop the only good thing about the urbie was that it mounted an ac20, but with the armor/crit changes in this game, an ac20 is nothing. I would recommend having a slow moving, stealthy urbie that has a quark which makes the ac20 do an extra 60 damage, or just lets it mount 4 ac20's regardless of weight/crits space.

While the numbers I've given above are specifically extreme, I actually support the theories. Urbanmechs should be made slower and balanced out in other ways.

and also there should be an R2-D2 paint scheme.

Because the Urbie is not an Omnimech, the engine can be changed out, so most people swap out for the largest engine they can fit, because any light moving at less than 75KPH is a sitting duck.

Just use the stock engine, it'll move that slow for you.

I found your problem... You're comparing to completely disparate game styles, and thinking they should come out the same. This game barely even resembles the Mechwarrior universe, it isn't anywhere near TT.

So you want an Urbie that can 2-shot anything in the game? Not going to happen, but if it did, it would make every single player either leave the game or play the Urbie exclusively. (it would be the most extremely OP mech ever in the game)

The people who say that are usually the ones on the receiving end. Not the ones who have to worry about timing and obstruction.

Indeed. I run up against that all the time. (70x LRM MCII-4)
