Apart from the skill rating and tonnage of players, the MM should also take consideration of game mode/map voting. Players who voted for that game mode/map may indicate that they have a build/skills more suitable for it (for instance, hot lurms may want to choose polar when the option is available). An attempt to balance the voted players on each side may make the bad matching team occur less likely (fighting in polar, one side has 6 lurms boat, and the other have none, it is not difficult to tell what is likely to happen).

Heh, there's a lot of hate for the MM lately. Poor MM, I really don't think it deserves it.

I don't think that would work. Often, I vote for crap maps purely to increase my multiplier. I actually enjoy the psychological minigame it provides.

"Are any OTHER chumps going to vote for mordor, or will my x8 gamble backfire spectacularly? Argh!"

MW4 didn't have a matchmaker and it's multiplayer lasted for almost a decade.

MW4 didn't have PGI "balancing" it, either.

QP Drop Deck is the answer for the map problem.
