Probably because a lot of the team is focusing on MW5's development.

Fine. Here ya go:
Having finally reached the point where the data shows more active players have purchased the Assassin and Bushwacker than those whom have not, we will be introducing our latest changes to weapons and quirks in order to provide greater choices for players to build more diverse builds for these mechs. While obviously balance is a near perfect state of perfection, we feel these changes will improve the player experience to an even greater extent (translation: we are nerfing the Assassin and maybe SRMs and Streaks while we are at it).
In February, March, and April we will be addressing the OP nature of other mechs and systems (again though...remember...balance is nearly perfect!), with another hit to energy (because we have received even more player requests to nerf the ISML, honest!) coming first in February, then we will be doubling spread and increasing heat to those OP MRMS in March, and in April say good buy to the horror that is the Clan Heavy laser line...all will be getting a 20% damage reduction and a 25% heat increase! And those are just the high points of those months! Don't you worry, OP mechs like the Mad-IIC will be having its agility numbers tweeked, the Warhammer will be getting a hit box refresh including a doubling of its torsos...ALL or them! (who says we can't program?), and of course the Linebacker will be losing all its defensive quirks because our data shows that the 72 remaining people playing CW run them an awful lot so they must be OP.
But we are just getting started! Yep, big things coming in spring and summer too! That's right, the new Urban map -right out of your three year old's worst day-glow nightmare! Las Vegas ripping off Bladerunner has never looked better! And after that map drops, you know what's coming next...
Solaris
SOLARIS
SOLARIS!
SOLARIS!!!
After that, sometime in Q4 we will be re balancing the entire game so that the Solaris matches last more than 30 seconds. Our plan, at this point in time, is to cut all weapon damage by a third and double or possibly triple the heat on everything. That way players will have more options to engage in this exciting new mode! Finally just in time for Mechcon 2018 we will be introducing the Skills Tree MKII where all currently mastered mechs will be locked into their nodes and all values will be converted to negative modifiers. We feel that this exciting new skill model will entice players to additional mech purchases, bringing more variety to the game!
THAT is what we have planned for 2018, now who's excited!!!!!!

Edit: I had to fix the most blatant typos. Too many and too obvious, made this parody a bit to close to reality.

One map.
3 Mech Packs.
Some weapon/quirk nerfs.
Writing this up took me 30 seconds.

I'm fine with more Toyama mechs in the game. Even if that spells fire and missiles raining from the skies (like the sky hasn't been falling already).

Not really. I have 197 mechs. Nearly every one of em has been nerfed one time or more. Directly or indirectly, every single one. And after every occurrence of "improving my game play experience" by "balancing" in this manner, its one more mech that I don't play, and it kills my desire to buy more. I am sick of it, and yet, my parody above is not at all far off of what PGI will do in the coming months. How do I know? Because that is exactly what they have done in 6 of the last 7 months; and both Chris and Russ have already indicated on twitter that they will be "adjusting" the Assassin. The only question is what else they will "adjust" and to what extreme.
Chris is on record saying balance is the best it has ever beenafter skills tree, and yet, THEY CAN"T STOP NERFING! Month after month after month they break something unexpected and out of the blue despite their claims of oh so great balance. If balance is so great, would it kill em to stop breaking my stuff...just for a few months? Is a little stability in this game too much to ask? Or is balance really not as good as they claim and the nonstop "balancing" is simply proof that they are either lying or clueless? What is the other alternative?
Now excuse me while I go bring out the ole Hellbringer, before it too is turned to crap along with my Gauss/PPC Cataphract, my Enforcer 5P, my Kodiaks, Jenners, Firestarters. etc. etc. etc.

According to Russ no development was taken from MWO for MW5...
So you would be wrong according to what he said, doesnt it look like this is the case. I mean development was snail speed since day one. I see no change.
