Why do you treat it as a weapon instead of an equipment like ecm, targeting computer, etc.

It should not belong to energy weapon class but the same class as ecm

This way it can be toggled instead of putting it in the fire groups.

Easy fix - Get Logitech mouse with free spin mouse wheel. Put 6th Fire Group on scroll down. Spin, baby, spin. Flick scroll wheel every 2-3 minutes for refresh.

But yes, toggling would be cool too.

What?! TAG is not a weapon?!!
My entire life and my 12 TAG Nova is a lie then. No wonder I wasn't getting any damage no matter how hard I alpha'ed.

Not a bad idea.
Fix teh TAG.

TAG shouldn't take up weapon slots, same with AMS. Give it its own fixed slot on each mech.

While I appreciate your logic for this, do understand that this would be a nerf to several Omnimechs that come with a TAG unit. They would lose an energy hardpoint, and most of the ones that bother to mount TAG stock aren't the ones that have oodles of energy hardpoints like the Nova. And no, PGI will not consider hardpoint inflation for Omnimechs.

Macros are there for everyone.
My biggest problem with tag is that annoying red bean, you can't be a good stealthy support if you hang around wearing christmas lights.

For any mech that already has a hard point for TAG and AMS and have them moved to be like ECM, just change it to be a regular hard point after the change.

Answer this question. How are you going to aim TAG at the red team if it is not mounted in a weapon slot?

It would just automatically aim at where your aim is, like it does now. The only change would be that you wouldn't have to waste a fire group, finger or script on it anymore.

No, the issue he is raising is where does the laser fire from on each mech, without a on/off extra tag laser attached to every mech model, you would have to have it fire from a weird place with no tag laser on it.

Well I guess you could have it coming out of the cockpit, but I don't think people would want that lol, is like a big "shoot me, here's where my face is" sign.

I don't think that's what he meant at all.

Regardless, even if he did, I don't see how it would change anything. Even if it did get it's own mount spot on every chassis, like AMS, it would still be targeting exactly like it does now. Just from a different hard point.

Sure, but it is work that has to be done for the idea nonetheless, it is not the simple "change a variable in a spreadsheet" task that it first sounds. It's not a point against the idea itself, it's just a point.

I'm not saying its a spreadsheet or easy programming change, just a mechanically (In game) trivial change.

It takes an energy slot....because it an energy item and it contributes to your other weapons - therefore its just easier for everyone if its a weapon. Takes a slot, basically how ECM and AMS do, cept you have more hardpoint location options with it.

Basically you would free up slots which would change the balance of the thing.

While we are at it, Narc is not a weapon either, can we make that equipment too so I can boat more missiles?

Probably not gonna happen

Auto aim are bad words around here. Auto aiming TAG is most likely a non-starter.

People are currently crying the blues about strikes. Why add something that will produce more tears around here.

Not auto-aim, automatically aim where you're pointing. The same as everything else in this zero-convergence deviation game.

Sorry for not being clear on that.

Don't forget to add plenty of heat similar to LAMS. Plus maybe moving it to the Skill Tree. I still think it is a non starter.
