Hi All,

Returning after 3 years out of the game. Here is my list of mechs:

SHadowhawk 5M

Shadowhawk 2d2

CN9-AH

CTF-3D

CTF-IM

CTF-2x

What would you say is the best Mech I currently own for solo play? I'm thinking the CTF-IM but I am not sure. Setups and reasons why to go witha certain Mech are welcome. Thank you in advance!

Shadow Hawks and the Muromets. Shadow Hawks are just generally a very solid chassis at a very convenient size with nice hardpoints at a perfect location right next to the cockpit. They are not flashy or have anything particularly amazing going for them, but that chassis is just all-around solid and reliable. Especially the 2D2 makes for a brilliant brawler for the Scouting mode with a LB10-X and 4 SRM4s.

The IM is good for entirely differrent reasons. The Cataphract chassis has awkward and low hardpoints and kind of weak hitboxes, but the hero variant is great because it has a few very spesific gimmicks going for it. I have especially seen 3 AC10 or 3 LB10-X builds going around, which no other mech can pull off the same. Otherwise the CTF has mostly been outclassed by other mechs that have more practical locations for their weapons.

IM, far and away. Spec full into Survival. I prefer the 3x LB-10X, but you can make 3x AC/10 or 3x UAC/5 work as well. Solid ******' 'mech to this day.

The IM is the best you've got. Maybe try something like this.
CTF-3D might also perform pretty well. Maybe even as Jumsniper with nipple PPCs.

The CN9-AH is also a pretty solid mech in scout rounds.

I would also say CFT-IM is the best, none of those Mechs are bad but none are top tier ether.

remember to take a look at the new tech, there are a lot more weapon options than there were 2 weeks ago, as well as the Light Fusion Engine which allows you to suvive a side torso loss and put an (U)AC20 in the side torso.

CTF-IM definitely your best imo. And I'll have to try The Basilisk's UAC5 build, be nice not to die on shoulder pop.

Right, here are a couple builds I use: ILYA MUROMETS, SHD-2D2.

The 2D2 one is weird. Decidedly non-meta, almost like an optimized stock loadout, but it feels really satisfying and works decent for mid-ranged fire support.

Maybe not the best, but the cataphracts are really improved with an LFE. Try the 3D, with 4 ERML's+UAC20 and an LFE300 :) PS that LFE can be used in tons of mechs..

You have solid mechs there. The IM, you might wanna try a UAC10+ 2 UAC5's too. though i always ran mine with AC20 + machine guns.. I sold it on accident, but maybe UAC20+2 LMG's, 2 ERML's and an LFE might be fun too.

+1 for Marmoset and shadowhawks. Bought my IM for the 3 lbx loadout which rocked until timberwolves were a thing, but is good again now. :D

I've only posted now to add that the IM also has 2 high energy hardpoints either side of the cockpit, the sort of place you could throw some snppc or hppc if that's your kinda thing.

The SHDs are large, squishy, have a limited FOV turn like crap compared to other meds and get their shoulderweapons shoot out if you're a beginner.
Only thing going for them are their high shoulder mounts....sad that their muzzleflashes block your sight.

I say the Centurion AH is the best mech you have.

But that's just me.

Not just you. I love that mech. Especially if it is the (L) Verthandi version.

for CBill grinding, if the AH is the (L) version, use that with AC20/3xSRM4 with an XL255. Muromets either triple UAC5 or dual Heavy PPC with LFEs

I love the CTF-IM. Very solid mech, with survivability skill tree maxed it could surpass the armor of most assault mech.
3UAC/5 is great.
