Hello, MechWarriors. I'm thinking about coming back to this game for a bit following the release of Civil War tech. I stopped playing around '14. What's new? Is the game better balanced? How is FW?

What's new since 2014...damn near everything except PGI's level of indifference, though to be fair they hired a new keeper of the dartboard who seems to be really trying.

FW is well...I'll leave that to someone who cares about FW. I only play it during events or when a majority of my team is drunk enough to give it a go.

As to balance. It is in flux. The recent introduction of civil war era weapons to our pre-civil war time line (to much to explain there...ask Russ) has got everyone tying new stuff. Most of the interesting stuff is IS thought the Clans did get a bit as well. None of it is particularly impressive, a lot of it is downright bad. I would say however that balance is overall is pretty good ( the introduction of IS LFE engines help for many bad standard engine builds). Clan gauss/laser vomit is the meta due to the addition of ghost heat to Gauss/ppc and if you are coming back in and don't knw what ghost heat is, then you have a lot of homework to do.

Oh. Enjoy the skills tree as well. You'll see when you log in.

It looks like there's a lot of new stuff... what are some good Atlas builds now?

AC20+SRMs for close range. Atlas is mostly used as a brawler. MRMs can be a decent option for slightly longer ranged engagement.

I run my D with a LFE360, UAC/20, 2 MRM20s, and 4 Medium lasers... with full armor. Its pretty fun.

Mostly new tech, skill tree, and a bunch of little changes that I can't remember. I personally think we're actually getting to a decent balance state.
