I've been fiddling with my Riflemen and the new tech.

Rifleman 3N:

RFL-3N XL290, 2xRAC5, 4xML, AMS

Oh my god this is fun. If you get a poor guy in the open with a good bead on him, he is basically helpless with the dual RAC5 shells exploding all around him. You're still squishy running that XL, but I think this is a pretty good build.

RFL-3N LT290, 1xGR, 6xML

Pretty good heat management, find some good cover and poke away, using your nice high hardpoints to minimize your exposure as much as possible.

Rifleman 3C:

The 3C I am not sure what to do with. The old 'fun' loadout was 4xAC2. That was viable (kinda), but upping it to quad UAC2's or RAC2's is not feasible without sacrificing too much armor, speed, or ammo. So I think the best you might be able to do with this is a loadout mimicking the 3N dual RAC5 loadout, throwing in a couple LMG's but your energy hardpoints aren't quite as good.

RFL-3C XL290 2xRAC5, 2xLMG, 2xML
RFL-3C LT290 2xRAC2, 2xLMG, 4xML

Rifleman 5D:

From Mechspecs.com the best builds are the builds that use the high arm and high CT hardpoints to get 3xERLL or 3xLPL mounted high, with dummy weapons in the lower hardpoints. I'd be interested in what PPC builds people have been running with the new tech, I prefer straight laser vomit on this thing.

New tech laser builds using the '3 high hardpoints' philosophy:

RFL-5D LT290 3xERLL, 4xERSL
RFL-5D XL280, 3xLPL, 4xSL

My personal favorite current RFL-5D is a more mid-to-short range medium laser spam:

RFL-5D STD290, 4xML, 4xMPL

Mediums nice and high for poking.

Lastly, the Legend Killer:

The legend killer is in a similar situation to the 3C. You can still run dual LB10's on it, but I don't think that it will be as strong as dual RAC5's.

I've contemplated this RFL-3N (edit: yes I know it's slow)
Had some surprising success using a light gauss on my Hunchback hero so the idea of slinging around a pair of them sounds like a laugh

Civil War revisions:

RFL-3N (super stock for t3h nost4lgiaz)

RFL-3N (RAC attack!)

RFL-3C (Yup, still boring 'ol AC2 dakka.)

RFL-5D (HPPCs are the finger of frakkin' Gawd)

RFL-LK (ULTRAKILL!)

LFE substituted where possible, but the RFL still demands a lot of tonnage to carry decent firepower. The most successful so far are the LK with 2xUAC10 and the 5D with 2xHPPC.

I still have yet to regret paying Realbucks™ for these things. They're still my most successful (and enjoyable) heavies by leaps and bounds. At this point I've sold off three of the Grasshoppers I got with R1 and two of the Black Knights I got with R2 (with a third likely to follow), but I still have all five of my Riflemen and drive all of them. Haven't clicked as well with another heavy yet.

I like the look of both of those. Dual UAC10's just looks kinda right on the Legend Killer. I might go slightly tweaking it with this:
RFL-LK 2xUAC10, 2xML

other idle thoughts...

RFL-3C Quad shotguns (although I think quad AC2 is probably better, quad shotties just for giggles)
RFL-5D Dual HPPC (slight mod/inspired by your HPPC build. I like having more speed)

Dual UAC10s is beastly. It's powerful enough that I don't notice any difference at all in survivability between my LK and any of the RFLs I converted to use LFE- when I start double-tapping, targets run away instead of returning fire, so the squishiness of the chassis doesn't matter so much. The jams do hurt, but not enough to make me want to swap the guns for anything else; dual UAC10 is strong. I don't think they're broken or OP, but they're very damned good... probably the best IS ballistic right now. I wouldn't hesitate to put two of them on anything else that can fit two of them.

Hard to argue against dual UAC/10's for the Legend Killer, it's in intruiging build.

If you want to use the quirks, with the nu-tek you can also fit in dual LB-10X's + 4 tons, 4xERML, and an LFE-250. It's a fairly nicely focused mid-range 'mech. LEGEND-KILLER

Optionally live dangerously with leg armour and add one DHS.

Between AC10 and UAC10? UAC every time; the burst damage is worth the extra ton and longer facetime.

AC10 vs LB10X? One more ton for pinpoint is usually the better choice, even against quirks.

Between UAC10 and LB10X, though? Much tougher call for the LK. The shotgun gets you a significant improvement in either mobility (almost 10kph by trading up from XL255 to XL290) or durability (by going LFE). The difference between the two guns is significant enough to actually justify it as a firepower/speed/durability playstyle choice where before newtech LB10X was almost exclusively a "only if nothing else will fit" gun.

Weird thinking of the LB10X as anything but bad, but there it is. Four tons is a pretty significant chunk of payload space for a 60-tonner.

Legend Killer is still best with LB10-Xs. I have set up mine with 2x LB10, 4 ERML and a XL280 Engine by help of light ferro. Its still one of my most fun and effective mechs.

RACs are a nice way to distract opponents but the DPS simply isn't sufficient, and UAC is too heavy considering the MASSIVE LB10 quirks the LK has.

For the 5D I recommend an old fashioned laser vomit since it has the hardpoints for it and ERML is amazing http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6929751229472a1
