I do have a question about mech loadouts: is using loadouts (modified or Vanilla) mini version ok to use?

Oh absolutely. But you’re going to want to tweak them.

The thing you’ll want to keep in mind when using stock builds from tabletop is that they’re not made for a first person shooter. So…

1 - inner sphere XL engines are dangerous and can get you dead quickly in some mechs because of how easy it is to hit the side torso on certain mechs.
2 - you almost always need more ammo in MWO than you do in tabletop.
3 - mixing weapon types makes aiming harder. Lasers lead targets differently than SRMs and differently than auto cannons, for example. So try to minimize how many different kinds you slap on one mech.
4 - Avoid “either or” weapon combos, like SRMs and LRMs on the same build. The former can only fire out to 270m while the latter can only fire at over 180m, meaning you can rarely fire all your weapons. This versatility works on tabletop, but it’s a liability in a first person shooter.

Anyway, welcome to the show!

Yeah you can use stock mechs from the store, but they will almost never perform well because this is a first person shooter and different strategies and builds work far better here. Nearly all IS mechs need Double Heat sinks to be viable.

To be fair, stuff like Endo-Steel and DHS are straight upgrades that make any mech better in tabletop too, as is good utilization of weapon synergies. Synergy is just a bit easier to get in tabletop where you only need to worry about range profiles, not aiming styles.

Most stock builds are just as bad by tabletop standards as they are in MWO standards. They are like that on purpose to keep the power level of simple scenarios low. In MWO theres an expectation and incentive to not shoot yourself in the foot like that.

Right, so the best thing to do in MWO is to take a stock mech and punch it up a bit with the same flavor. For example, this is the Marauder 3R I run. Same basic loadout as the stock mech, squeeze in an extra autocannon by adding Endosteel and Double Heat Sinks, and sacrifice a bit of lore to swap the standard 300 engine down to a light 280. But the result is a mech that just WORKS.

You can if you like, but most of the time it'll amount to gimping yourself.
