I present you....The Templar.

Templar - http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Templar
Posted Image

My opinion even with its lock XL engine this thing could be really mean....From the artwork of the Templar (1, not the III or the MW4 version) the pros would be...

1. High mounted Torso hard points, very similar to the Battlemaster.
2. Large Shield arms like the Battlemaster and Banshee, along with narrow torso hit boxes, possibly if not likelying making it XL friendly.
3. Although locked XL, the rating is not bad at 340 giving it a speed of 64.8 before speedtweek.
4. At 85 tons she would have single ton jump jets (that is a huge thing to consider...)
5. ECM variants!
6. A wide selection of hard point configurations to choose from.

Granted yes, until we get the artwork, in game model, and quirks everything is purely speculation, but I would put some money on this being a fairly decent mech to add to the game!

I would buy it if the crusader was released along with it.

Giant, boxy assault, locked to XL. Nothing could go wrong here.

Answer me this? Is a Battlemaster safe to take a XL engine in? Is a Banshee safe? That right there will give a good answer to how one would predict the Templar.

Well the Templar has huge shield arms and it's torsos in most art are thinner than those of the BMaster. Sure it may not be the perfect XL carrier but it's certainly not bad.

Battlemaster? No. Banshee? No.

"XL Safe" is a myth.

So that begs the question, what would perfect XL hit boxes look like?

Then why is it so popular to see them running with XL's all over the place? Yes it is a thing and even recommend on meta mechs soooo...If it is so bad why is it acceptable by meta standards?

The biggest factor is how well the STs blend with the CT. If the STs can be easily focused then obviously thats a problem. This is actually more important than shield arms, etc. The Marauder IIC frontally is a good example of this.

For those mechs it's just better to be a glass cannon than be slow and/or undergunned. There's also mechs that are XL passable but safe would be too strong a statement.

Dear god.

Cataphracts and Battlemasters...

...can breed!?

That's what that thing looks like to me: the illegitimate love child between a 4X and A Battlemaster.
I'd probably buy it, cuz it would probably be a death trap. So what the hell?

IS Omnimechs would be considered content mate!

You can not stem the flow of mechs, Mechpacks = PGI's main source of income. Do not like it? kind of tough luck.

P.S. what is with some people getting butte hurt over mech discussion? Like if you are a vegan do you go into a general grocery store and start yelling you are not buying the meat and other products using animal products? Well I guess some do...but most normal people would not.... But it is the same thing here...do not like it? why the hell are you posting about it here then?!?!

This thing seems real fun to ride, shield arms to protect the CT, nice amount of dakka with energy, or guass and lasers. And it kinda reminds me of the Battlemaster.

I'll buy three of these packs, and platinum camo pack too!!!

Uuhhh knuckle dragging arms, max of 4 energy in the torsos, max of 2 UAC5s in the torsos, or one UAC5 and 3 LPL.

This mech is garbage, Sunder shits on it.

Also, the Sunder has a much better chance of being able to roll ST damage onto CT, because the CT is a little further forward than the shoulders, unlike the Templar or the Thanatos for that matter. Of course it will depend on hitboxes, but the Templar geometry is much worse for an XL.

No, neither of them are. Especially now that we have LFE. The Battlemaster was never "safe" with XL, it was just better than not having enough guns. Now you can have your cake and eat it too, just like a clanner, so why would you ever go back to side torso death?
