As gamers we tend to think of food in terms of chips, pizza, and soda, Then there are last nights Taco's which made the RPG session a little more interesting. But outside of canned goods, what do you have in the pantry for food.

Anything for emergencies. I recently discovered Mountain House food products (MountainHouse.com) which has some pretty good stuff. Perhaps the closest thing to an MRE that you can actually eat. Lets just say my first encounter with an MRE didn't go very well (.....).

I still have 1 MRE left that's about it

oh I always keep a bag of popcorn and a large thing of oat meal
(back in the 1980's sometimes I had to eat popcorn for the last few days before payday-- you never forget those days)

I should look into getting something additional

what is emergency food? how about just chcoclate? No emergency requries an entire meal it just requries "some energy" so any chcocolate and cola is fine. (caffeine + sugar).
othwerwise any kind of sausage and cheese in the fridge acts as proper emergency food intake.
