Tonight is one of those nights where you just log off early and call it quits.
Five matches. 4 loss, 1 win. All five were heavily lopsided. Three of them were 12-1 or 12-2. Only one was 12-4.
I don't understand why PGI focuses on Solaris and spikes on mechs but ignores the fact their MM fails far more often than it succeeds. How hard can it be to think up a set of parameters that demonstrate skill, calculate a battle value for mechs, and then have the MM create teams with close to the same values?
The MM is working just fine with what it is given, imho it is the PSR that is the issue. There are people in tiers they likely should not be those tiers (me!!) but due to how the PSR is setup, it drags those folks up.
Now, with that said place, when the values are opened up in a game seeded by a T1/2 and you get the perfect storm. Your team is made up of some folks who should not be T1/2 but are ranked that along with T3/4 vs a team with more actual T1/2 abilities, including that new guy who started 4 weeks ago with excellent performance while on the cusp of moving from T3 to T2.
PSR needs some revamp but I believe it should first be setup so it resets every quarter, with the player's previous performance being used to seed into the appropriate tier. And with each tier broken up into 2-3 sections. PGI would also need to add the ability to change how that data is used, a baseline but also the ability to change the parameters for placement.
I would discuss spreads but one of the things PGI has not discussed, such as when they said that T1 would not drop with T5, is that only when the SEEDED player is a T1 or T5? Stay with me. Right now a T3 has a two tier spread (imho should be a 1 tier spread to either side), which right now, afaik means from T1 TO T5........
