What was said about it's efficacy?
Is it non-functional? or is it cool run. Couldn't remember as I briefly read that thread about it, where the dev mentioned that there was no effect on the characteristic from skill tree. Briefed the patch notes and the road map notes, and couldn't find anything regarding. thanks.

Imho it has a basic function but does not scale with additonal cooling measures.

It applied to built-in heat sinks of the engine, but not to additional ones.

Its getting fixed in the next patch so it will apply to all heatsinks (which is great).

Doewnside is that we need to redo all tests and calculations about optimal skill trees for laser vomit mechs.
So much work to do.

This makes me curious about mechs using smaller engines. If you'll recall, just as an example - a mech with a 200 size engine needs to fit 2 additional Heat Sinks somewhere in their mech. PGI had numerous code issues involving the heat sinks required that wouldn't fit in the engine being treated properly by their rules set for both Heat Containment and if they were Double heat sinks. Most light mechs picked up heat based quirks to account for the difference.
I wonder how the patch will play out for lighter mechs using smaller engines and if we'll see a true fix or a ghetto band-aid for it.

That is something to consider, for instance the cougar with a 175 locked, has 7 internals.

Been taking all cool runs and heat containments on all builds except dual gauss builds. Looking forward to it getting fixed so that i won't have to change my skills and they'll run even better.

Heat Containment does make a difference. Without it, my 6xERLL BLR-1G goes up to 55% heat after 3x3 firing. With heat containment taken, my BLR-1G spends 45% heat using the same alpha. So it helps.
